Costco can compete with Prime Day, but not simply by posting the lowest sticker price. For an identical model, Amazon may be cheaper; for a large TV, computer, appliance, or Apple bundle, Costco’s longer electronics return window, qualifying warranty coverage, delivery services, and member rewards can make the total value better. Prime Day 2026 ran June 23–26, and Costco’s 2026 Member Appreciation Days ended June 26, so those events are historical rather than current offers. ConsumerAffairs reported the event dates.
Quick verdict
Buy at Costco when the exact configuration is competitively priced and the included services reduce meaningful risk or expense. That usually means a 55-inch-or-larger TV, a mainstream or premium laptop, a current Apple device with the right storage, or a large appliance. Be more skeptical with inexpensive accessories, Amazon hardware, and flash deals: a $65 membership can erase a small saving.
Costco does not price-match Amazon or other retailers. Its advantage is total ownership value: price, shipping, installation, haul-away, returns, warranty, protection plans, and rewards. Costco’s price-match policy confirms that competitor matching is not offered.
What counts as a real Costco deal?
Compare identical configurations first
- Match the model number, screen size, processor, RAM, storage, ports, connectivity, and included accessories.
- Match condition: new, refurbished, or open-box.
- Compare the same seller, fulfillment method, shipping charge, and return terms.
When the model number differs
Retailer-specific TVs and laptops may look identical while using a different panel, port selection, processor generation, brightness rating, or accessory bundle. Compare specifications rather than assuming that the same brand and size make two products equivalent.

Use an effective-cost calculation
Effective Costco cost = item price + membership allocation + shipping or installation costs − instant discount − applicable rewards − the value of included services. Describe warranty protection as risk reduction unless a comparable standalone plan supplies a defensible dollar value.

Start with viewing distance and room lighting, then compare technology. OLED generally offers the strongest contrast; Mini-LED and QLED can be brighter; standard LED is often cheaper. For gaming, look for a 120-Hz panel, HDMI 2.1, variable refresh rate (VRR), and auto low-latency mode (ALLM). Confirm HDR format support and the built-in operating system.

A Costco TV bundle is worthwhile only when its soundbar, installation, delivery, haul-away, or protection terms are genuinely cheaper than buying those items separately. Costco describes these benefits as applying to select products, not every television. Check the exact listing at Costco’s benefits and product pages.
How to evaluate a Costco laptop
Match the buyer to the specification
- Basic use: web, schoolwork, office applications, and video calls.
- Mainstream Windows: a current processor, 16GB RAM where possible, and a 512GB SSD.
- Gaming: discrete graphics, cooling, refresh rate, power adapter, and upgradeability.
- Creator or professional: processor class, GPU, color-accurate display, RAM, and ports.
- MacBook: Apple-silicon generation, memory, storage, and display size.
Use the return period to test the keyboard, display, battery, webcam, and software compatibility. Costco advertises two-year coverage and technical support for qualifying computers; verify that the exact product receives those benefits at Costco. A clearance laptop with an older processor is not automatically a bargain.

Apple devices need generation-level checking
Costco may sell older stock after Apple changes its lineup, different storage tiers, Wi-Fi or cellular versions, or bundles with accessories. Compare the chip, RAM, storage, display size, cellular capability, Apple warranty start date, and AppleCare+ availability with Apple’s current listings for Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods. Membership math
Gold Star costs $65 annually. Executive costs $130 total and offers a 2% reward on qualified purchases, capped at $1,250, subject to exclusions. Recovering the additional $65 Executive fee through rewards alone requires more than $3,250 in qualified annual spending (65 ÷ 0.02), and not every purchase qualifies. For a new member, add the $65 Gold Star fee to the purchase. A $30 electronics saving is not a saving after membership. Existing members should treat Executive rewards as an applicable discount only when the item qualifies.
