Yes—the Galaxy Z Fold7 really was advertised at $720 below list price during Black Friday 2025, without requiring a trade-in. The offer covered Samsung’s US unlocked 512GB model: $1,399.99 versus a $2,119.99 list price. That was a historical promotion, however. As of August 18, 2026, the $1,399.99 price is not verified as a live offer, so check Samsung’s cart before treating it as available.
What the Black Friday deal actually was
Multiple technology outlets reported Samsung’s US Black Friday 2025 promotion for the unlocked 512GB Galaxy Z Fold7. The advertised arithmetic was:
| Item | Reported amount |
|---|---|
| 512GB US list price | $2,119.99 |
| Black Friday promotional price | $1,399.99 |
| Advertised difference | $720 |
| Trade-in required | No, according to the deal coverage |
The promotion was covered by SamMobile, TechRadar, SammyGuru and 9to5Google during the 2025 event.
Coverage indicates that the headline value likely combined about $600 off the phone with approximately $120 of value from a free upgrade from 256GB to 512GB. Therefore, “$720 off” accurately described the difference between the stated list and deal prices, but it should not be read as a permanent $720 reduction on every Fold7 configuration.

Which Fold7 qualified?
The claim was tied to a new, unlocked US Galaxy Z Fold7 with 512GB storage. Samsung’s listing identifies the model and its specifications here: Samsung’s unlocked 512GB product page. Available colors could vary with inventory, including Jetblack, Blue Shadow and Silver Shadow.
Samsung launched the Fold7 in the US on July 25, 2025. Its original US storage prices were $1,999.99 for 256GB, $2,119.99 for 512GB and $2,419.99 for 1TB, as described in Samsung’s launch announcement. Do not attach the $720 figure to the 256GB or 1TB versions without separate evidence, and do not confuse this unlocked offer with a carrier installment or bill-credit promotion.
What “without trade-in” did—and did not—mean
For the reported promotion, the customer did not have to surrender an existing phone to receive the $1,399.99 advertised price. That made the upfront cost predictable: you did not first need a qualifying device, pass an inspection or wait for a trade-in credit.

It did not necessarily mean the transaction had no other conditions. A checkout could still involve:
- Samsung account and payment requirements;
- limited colors, storage availability or a promotion end date;
- sales tax and shipping;
- credit approval and financing terms when paying in installments;
- optional Samsung Care+ charges; and
- separate activation rules for a carrier model.
Samsung’s offer pages also warn that trade-in, carrier and other Samsung promotions generally cannot be combined unless the specific terms allow it: Samsung featured offers and Samsung phone offers. “No trade-in” should therefore not be rewritten as “no restrictions” or “every promotion stacks.”
What you received for $1,399.99
The Fold7 is a premium foldable rather than a conventional phone with a discounted sticker price. Samsung lists these relevant specifications for the 512GB model:
Rank #3
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Inner display | 8.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, up to 120Hz; 2,184 × 1,968 resolution |
| Cover display | 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 2,520 × 1,080 resolution |
| Main camera | 200MP |
| Telephoto | 3× optical zoom |
| Battery | 4,400mAh typical capacity |
| Weight | 215g |
| Productivity | Samsung DeX supported |
| Samsung-listed security support | Through July 31, 2032 |
The large inner screen can make split-screen apps, document reading and tablet-style work more practical than on a slab phone. DeX adds a desktop-style mode for compatible displays and peripherals. Those benefits are the reason to consider the Fold7; the discount alone does not make its form factor useful to everyone.

Tax and protection
$1,399.99 was the advertised phone price, not the final checkout total. Sales tax varies by location. Samsung Care+ is separate and can change the ownership cost through premiums, deductibles and claim limits. Review the current plan for your exact model at Samsung Care+ rather than assuming protection is included.

Carrier pricing
Carrier offers may require activation, a qualifying line or bill credits over time. They are not equivalent to the unlocked, no-trade-in $1,399.99 promotion.
No trade-in versus trading or selling your old phone
The no-trade-in offer was simple: pay the verified sale price and keep your existing phone. A trade-in could reduce your net cost further, but only after considering your device’s model, condition, eligibility and the promotion in effect.
- Samsung trade-ins generally require the device to power on, have a functioning display, be cleared of personal data and have software locks disabled. See Samsung’s mobile information at Samsung Mobile.
- Inspection or a condition dispute can change the credited amount.
- Selling independently may produce more money, but adds listing, shipping and fraud risk.
- Compare the actual cash or sale value of your phone—not the maximum headline trade-in credit—to the no-trade-in price.
Is $1,399.99 a good price for this phone?
Buy at that price if
- You specifically want a large-screen foldable and will use multitasking, reading or DeX.
- You want 512GB storage and have no suitable phone to trade in.
- The checkout still shows approximately $1,399.99 before tax, with the unlocked model selected.
- You can budget for potential foldable repairs or protection.
Compare or wait if
- You mainly want the best camera, battery capacity or durability per dollar.
- You rarely use an inner display and a conventional flagship is hundreds of dollars cheaper.
- The current price is materially above $1,399.99.
- A newer Samsung or competing foldable now offers more capable hardware.
- You are considering a refurbished or renewed phone but require a factory-sealed unit.
At $1,399.99, the 512GB Fold7 was a compelling price for shoppers who wanted this specific premium foldable. At $1,719.99 or higher, compare current foldables, conventional flagships and Samsung’s renewed inventory. At list price, the purchase has to be justified by the foldable productivity experience rather than by Black Friday value.

Is the deal still available on August 18, 2026?
There is no reliable basis to call $1,399.99 a live August 2026 deal. Samsung search results and product pages have shown conflicting figures, including $2,199.99, $1,719.99 and $1,499.99, which can reflect changing promotions, page variants, regional settings or cached indexing. Check the live cart, not a search snippet:
- Open Samsung’s US unlocked Fold7 page: Galaxy Z Fold7 512GB.
- Select the 512GB storage option and confirm that the phone is unlocked.
- Check whether the displayed reduction appears before entering trade-in information.
- Add the device to the cart and review the subtotal, tax, shipping and protection selections.
- Read the promotion’s eligibility, stacking and expiration terms.
- Confirm stock and save a screenshot if the price is time-limited.
Samsung’s other buying pages may show different states or variants: 512GB unlocked listing and another 512GB buying page. Verify the exact configuration and final total before paying.
Renewed alternatives
Samsung announced Certified Re-Newed Galaxy Z Fold7 models in 2026, with the 256GB version starting at $1,699 at announcement. That is a different product category and not the Black Friday 2025 deal. Confirm current stock, warranty, condition and storage before comparing it with a new Fold7: Samsung Certified Re-Newed announcement.
