Amazon’s July 11–12, 2023 Prime Day prices are historical, not current offers. The strongest deals were the Sony WH-1000XM5 at $328 for premium noise cancellation, Bose QuietComfort 45 at $199 for value and comfort, Soundcore Space A40 at $55 for budget features, AirPods Pro (2nd generation) at $199 for Apple users, and Sennheiser HD 560S at $142 for wired listening. The picks below judge the products as well as the discount, and separate over-ear headphones, sealed earbuds, open-fit earbuds, workout models and open-back wired headphones.
Prices and “all-time low” descriptions come from Engadget’s July 2023 roundup; an all-time low means the lowest price tracked by that publication, not a guaranteed universal market record. Amazon’s October 10–11, 2023 Prime Big Deal Days was a separate event and is not mixed into this list.

Best over-ear noise-canceling deals
Sony WH-1000XM5: best overall at $328
The WH-1000XM5 was the default premium choice when strong ANC, comfort, calls and software mattered more than the lowest price. Engadget described $328 as a new tracked low. Sony specifies up to 30 hours with noise canceling enabled and 40 hours with it disabled, Bluetooth 5.2, LDAC support and an approximate 8.82-ounce weight in its official specifications.

- Packaging Component: Package include a Foldable Deep Bass Headphone, 3.5MM Audio Cable, Type-c Charging Cable and User Manual.
- Strengths: highly effective ANC, useful ambient mode, comfortable over-ear fit, good call performance, touch controls and Sony app EQ.
- Trade-offs: the default sound is bass-forward; the earcups do not fold as compactly as the XM4; it was the most expensive main over-ear pick.
- Buy it if: you travel, commute, work in noisy rooms or want one premium wireless headset.
- Skip it if: you need a compact folding case, physical buttons or a lower-cost option.
Verdict: the best overall deal because the price was unusually low for a current flagship, not simply because the advertised discount was large.
Bose QuietComfort 45: best value over-ear ANC at $199
At $199, the QC45 was the bargain choice for shoppers prioritizing comfort, simple controls and effective ANC. The July coverage called it roughly $110 below its average street price and tied for its tracked low.
- Strengths: very comfortable fit, foldable construction, physical buttons, effective ANC and a relatively neutral default sound.
- Trade-offs: approximately 20-hour battery life, fewer adaptive and app features than Sony, and older, weaker call performance.
- Buy it if: you want comfortable ANC below $200 and prefer buttons to touch controls.
- Skip it if: you need the longest battery, newest software features or the strongest call performance.
Verdict: a better value than the XM5 for comfort-focused buyers, but not technically superior in every respect.
Rank #2
- LONG BATTERY LIFE: With up to 50-hour battery life and quick charging, you’ll have enough power for multi-day road trips and long festival weekends.(USB Type-C Cable included)
- HIGH QUALITY SOUND: Great sound quality customizable to your music preference with EQ Custom on the Sony | Headphones Connect App.

- MULTIPOINT CONNECTION: Quickly switch between two devices at once.
Sony WH-1000XM4: sensible only for folding design or extra savings
The XM4 cost $248, saving $80 versus the XM5 deal. It retained strong ANC, a foldable design, a generously padded headband and roughly 30-plus hours of battery life. However, Engadget noted that $248 was not its historic low.

- Choose the XM4 for: compact folding, a more cushioned headband or a lower upfront price.
- Choose the XM5 instead for: better calls, a lighter-feeling design, improved handling of some midrange and high-frequency noise, and newer adaptive ANC.
- Watch for: boomier out-of-box sound, older hardware and the possibility that replacement timing would reduce its value.
Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2: sound and design over ANC
At $329, the Px7 S2 matched a tracked low and appealed to listeners who valued premium materials and engaging sound. Its ANC and companion software were less capable than Sony’s, so it was not the rational choice for frequent flights or buyers seeking the most adaptable features.
Best true-wireless earbud deals
AirPods Pro (2nd generation): best for iPhone owners at $199
The July 2023 deal was the original second-generation model with a Lightning charging case, not the USB-C revision introduced later that year. Apple’s technical page for that version lists the H2 chip, Bluetooth 5.3, IPX4 protection, up to six hours of listening per charge and up to 30 hours with the case: Apple specifications.

- LONG BATTERY LIFE: With up to 50-hour battery life and quick charging, you’ll have enough power for multi-day road trips and long festival weekends. (USB Type-C Cable included)
- HIGH QUALITY SOUND: Great sound quality customizable to your music preference with EQ Custom on the Sony | Headphones Connect App.

- CRYSTAL CLEAR CALLS: A built-in microphone provides you with hands-free calling. No need to even take your phone from your pocket.
- MULTIPOINT CONNECTION: Quickly switch between two devices at once.
- Strengths: effortless pairing and switching across Apple devices, Siri and Find My integration, excellent transparency mode, strong ANC and a compact fit.
- Trade-offs: the best feature access requires Apple hardware; standalone battery life is modest; Apple does not provide the same manual EQ control as many rivals.
- Buy it if: you use an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch and want the least-friction experience.
- Check before buying: a current listing may be the later USB-C model, whose Apple page lists USB-C charging and IP54 protection: USB-C specifications.
Soundcore Space A40: best budget feature bargain at $55
The Space A40 combined ANC, transparency mode, wireless charging, multipoint Bluetooth and app-based EQ for $55. Contemporary coverage estimated about eight hours per charge.
- Strengths: unusually complete feature set, small lightweight earbuds and excellent price-to-function ratio.
- Trade-offs: microphones, ANC strength and sound refinement trail premium models; removing an earbud does not automatically pause playback.
- Buy it if: you want practical features and multipoint without paying premium-earbud prices.
- Skip it if: call quality, maximum isolation or polished sound is your top priority.
Google Pixel Buds Pro: Android-oriented, but not a universal winner
The $133–$139 price was about $45 below its typical price and within $5 of a tracked low. Pixel and Android integration, battery life and convenience made it relevant to Android users, but the cited testing found mediocre call quality and transparency performance. Choose it for ecosystem features rather than as the strongest all-round earbud deal.
Open-fit and workout options
Amazon Echo Buds (2023): $35 for people who dislike sealed earbuds
The open design avoided the plugged-up feeling of conventional in-ear tips and included multipoint, auto-pause, EQ adjustment and Alexa integration. The compromise was less than five hours of battery life, weaker isolation and less full-bodied sound. They were not sufficiently sweat-resistant for dependable gym use.

Beats Powerbeats Pro: best workout stability at $150
Ear hooks, physical controls and about 10 hours of earbud battery life made the Powerbeats Pro a strong exercise choice. Apple’s H1 chip added iOS conveniences. The earbuds launched in 2019, have a very large charging case, do not fully seal the ear and provide little external-noise blocking.
That distinction matters: a secure fit prevents earbuds from falling out, but it is not the same as ANC or isolation for trains and aircraft. Pick these for movement, not for quiet travel.

Sennheiser HD 560S: $142 for critical listening and gaming
The HD 560S offered balanced sound, a broad soundstage and long-wear comfort at roughly $25 below its usual street price. Its open-back cups leak sound and admit room noise, so they are for a quiet home rather than an office or commute. They require a cable and have no microphone; gamers need a separate mic.

- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.

Deals that were easier to skip
- Second-generation AirPods at $90: only a modest reduction from their normal street price, with five-hour battery life and a one-size fit.
- Sony WF-1000XM4 at $198: capable, but an imminent successor weakened the case for buying an older flagship at that price.
- Beats Studio Buds at $90: acceptable, but the Space A40 delivered more features for $35 less.
- Any “discount” tied to an inflated MSRP: compare with recent street prices, not only the percentage shown on Amazon.
How to evaluate a Prime Day headphone listing
- Confirm the event and price date. July Prime Day and October Prime Big Deal Days were separate sales; a 2023 price is not a current quote.
- Check condition and seller. Verify that the listing is new rather than renewed, inspect the seller and confirm warranty and return terms.
- Identify the exact generation. In particular, distinguish Lightning and USB-C AirPods Pro 2 cases.
- Match the physical design to your setting. Open-back models leak; open-fit earbuds isolate little; sealed earbuds depend heavily on personal ear shape; over-ear ANC models are better for travel.
- Check ecosystem requirements. Apple, Pixel, Sony, Bose and Soundcore features can depend on a compatible phone, app, firmware or operating system.
- Read battery claims correctly. Manufacturer runtimes are test-condition estimates, not guaranteed real-world performance.
- Confirm Prime eligibility and availability. Prices could vary by color, sell out or be restricted to Prime members.
Which deal should you have chosen?
For premium all-purpose ANC, the Sony WH-1000XM5 at $328 was the strongest July 2023 deal. The Bose QC45 at $199 was the better over-ear bargain when comfort, buttons and price mattered more than newer features. The Space A40 at $55 delivered the most budget functionality, AirPods Pro 2 at $199 made the most sense inside Apple’s ecosystem, Powerbeats Pro at $150 prioritized workout security, and HD 560S at $142 was the clear home-listening specialist. The right purchase depended on fit, phone platform and listening environment—not the biggest percentage discount.
For retailer searches, use the exact model and verify the current seller and version: WH-1000XM5, QC45, AirPods Pro 2, Space A40, Powerbeats Pro and HD 560S. Retail prices, stock, color, seller and Prime eligibility can change.
