Was the 42% discount real?
Yes. PCWorld recorded the second-generation Fire TV Stick 4K Max at $35 on March 16, 2026, ahead of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, and described that price as close to its lowest observed price. Separate Black Friday deal coverage reported approximately $34.99 against a $59.99 reference price. The arithmetic is straightforward: $59.99 minus $34.99 equals $25.00, and $25 divided by $59.99 is about 41.7%, which Amazon-style deal headlines round to 42%.
Amazon prices can change by marketplace region, inventory, seller, condition and configuration. A listing may be for a renewed unit, a bundle, a different remote or a different Fire TV model. A coupon might need to be clipped, and a price shown on the product page can change in the cart or at checkout. Which generation is included?
The model associated with the $59.99 launch price and the feature set in this deal is the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), released in 2023. Amazon’s device documentation distinguishes it from the 2021 first-generation Max.

Wi-Fi 6E benefits require a compatible 6GHz router and suitable local network conditions.
Who should buy it at about $35?
- Owners of older 4K TVs: It can replace slow or abandoned built-in software.
- Alexa households: The remote and Fire TV integration fit Amazon smart-home setups.
- App and game users: 16GB provides more room than basic streaming sticks.

- Confirm the title says Fire TV Stick 4K Max, not standard Fire TV Stick 4K, 4K Select or HD.
- Check that it is the 2nd Gen model with 16GB if that is why you want the Max.
- Confirm new versus renewed condition, seller identity and the included remote.
- Clip any required coupon and check the final cart and checkout total.
- Review delivery date, return policy and regional availability.
- Match your TV’s HDMI input and 4K/HDR capabilities; use the included power adapter if the TV’s USB port cannot supply adequate power.
- For Dolby Atmos, verify the soundbar or receiver, app, subscription and content support.
- For Wi-Fi 6E, verify that your router supports 6GHz; the feature cannot compensate for a slow or congested broadband connection.
Bottom line
If the live listing is still around $35 and you want Alexa, Fire TV, 4K HDR and extra storage, the second-generation Fire TV Stick 4K Max is a strong buy. If it has returned near $60, compare Amazon’s newer 4K models and current Roku or Google TV options instead of treating the old 42% headline as a standing offer.
