These were historical prices observed on December 20, 2025—not live offers. Amazon’s final advertised pre-Christmas promotion covered seven listings across four Kindle families in the US and UK. The standard Kindle was the budget pick, Paperwhite the best all-rounder, Colorsoft the specialist choice for color content, and Scribe the strongest deal for handwriting and document annotation.
The promotion was expected to end Sunday, December 21, 2025, and delivery depended on destination, stock and shipping option. Use this as a price-history guide; check the regional Amazon product page for any current price before buying. Links below are to the official US listings and may earn an affiliate commission.
The seven historical Kindle deals at a glance
“Seven deals” did not mean seven different Kindle models. The offers were four product families repeated across two markets, with no complete information about every storage tier, color, advertising status, bundle or accessory configuration.

Which Kindle was the best buy?
Best budget Kindle: the 2024 Kindle
At $89.99 in the US or £79.99 in the UK, the 2024 Kindle had the lowest entry price. It made sense for an infrequent reader, commuter, child or teenager, or gift buyer who wanted a compact, dedicated reading device and access to Amazon’s Kindle ecosystem without paying for premium hardware. The TechRadar listing highlighted the compact design and Matcha green finish. See the official US listing at Amazon.
The saving was worthwhile but not exceptional by Kindle-sale standards: TechRadar said the $89.99 price was $20 off and slightly above its Black Friday price. That makes it a sensible low-cost purchase, not the strongest historical bargain.
Best all-rounder: Kindle Paperwhite
The Paperwhite at $134.99 in the US and £134.99 in the UK was the most balanced choice for people who read often. The reported configuration offered a 7-inch glare-free display, adjustable warm light, up to 12 weeks of advertised battery life and room for thousands of books. Battery and capacity figures are usage- and configuration-dependent, not guarantees.

- Ready for travel – The ultra-thin design has a larger glare-free screen so pages stay sharp no matter where you are.

Its price was only $10 above the Prime Day and Black Friday price TechRadar cited, so waiting for another major event would not necessarily have produced a large additional saving. Choose it for longer reading sessions, varied lighting and nighttime comfort; skip it if the standard Kindle already meets your needs. Official US listing: Amazon.

Best specialist deal: Kindle Colorsoft
Colorsoft fell to $169.99 in the US from $249.99 and to £164 in the UK from £239.99. It was positioned as Amazon’s first and only color Kindle in the lineup discussed at the time, making it relevant for graphic novels, comics, travel guides, photographs and illustrated reference books.
TechRadar described USB-C, wireless charging, up to eight weeks of advertised battery life and storage for thousands of books. Those specifications can vary by model, software and listing, so verify them on the product page. The US price was within $20 of the publication’s observed low, a strong specialist discount. It is not automatically a better Paperwhite: if your library is mostly black-and-white text, the cheaper monochrome model may deliver better value. Official US listing: Amazon.

- Our fastest Kindle Paperwhite ever – The next-generation 7“ Paperwhite display has a higher contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns.
- Upgrade your reading experience – The Signature Edition features an auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging, and 32 GB storage.
- Ready for travel – The ultra-thin design has a larger glare-free screen so pages stay sharp no matter where you are.
- Escape into your books – Your Kindle doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other distracting apps.
- Adapts to your surroundings – The auto-adjusting front light lets you read in the brightest sunlight or late into the night.
Biggest saving: Kindle Scribe
The Scribe dropped to $279.99 in the US from $419.99, a calculated $140 or approximately 33.3% reduction. That was the largest dollar and percentage saving among the US offers and matched the best Black Friday price TechRadar had observed.
Scribe is a reading-and-writing device rather than simply a larger Kindle. Its included stylus supports handwritten notes, document comments and doodling on a larger surface. It suited students, professionals, journalers and heavy annotators who would use those functions regularly. It was excessive for someone seeking novels, pocketability or the lowest price. TechRadar also said some earlier review shortcomings had been addressed by later software updates; treat that as update-dependent and check the current software and feature notes. Official US listing: Amazon.

How good were these prices versus earlier sales?
- 2024 Kindle: the $89.99 US price was decent but not quite as low as the cited Black Friday price.
- Paperwhite: $134.99 was only $10 above the cited Prime Day and Black Friday price, making it a relatively safe buy for someone who needed it before Christmas.
- Colorsoft: $169.99 was within $20 of its observed lowest price, a strong result when color is genuinely useful.
- Scribe: $279.99 matched the publication’s best-ever Black Friday price observation, although the high total cost still made it a niche purchase.
These are TechRadar’s publication-specific price-history comparisons, not an official Amazon record of every historical low. A retailer’s “was” price can be a list price or another reference price rather than the most recent selling price.

Choose by reading habit, not discount percentage
Buy the standard Kindle when price and simplicity matter
Pick the 2024 Kindle if you read occasionally, want the smallest outlay or need a straightforward dedicated reader. Do not pay extra for Colorsoft or Scribe merely because their percentage discounts look larger.
Buy Paperwhite for frequent or nighttime reading
Paperwhite’s warm light, glare-free screen and larger format address comfort issues that become more noticeable during daily or late-night reading. Its advertised 12-week maximum depends on brightness, wireless use, front-light settings, software and other activity.
Buy Colorsoft only when color changes what you read
Color is valuable for comics, illustrations, maps, photography and color-coded material. It adds little to a conventional black-and-white novel, so calculate the premium against how often you will actually view color pages.

Buy Scribe when handwriting is part of the plan
Scribe is rational when you will annotate documents, take handwritten notes or journal on the device. It is a poor fit for buyers who never write, want a small reader or expect a general-purpose tablet.
What the promotion did not establish
- It did not identify storage capacity for every offer.
- It did not clearly state whether prices were for ad-supported or ad-free versions.
- It did not confirm that every colorway shared the same price.
- It did not provide a complete inventory, stock report, warranty comparison or accessory-bundle list.
- It did not prove that every configuration in a product family received the advertised discount.
Amazon can change price by storage, color, advertising status, seller and bundle. Open the exact regional listing, select the desired configuration and confirm the final checkout price before treating any historical figure as a buying signal.
Could a buyer still receive one before Christmas?
The sale was observed December 20, 2025. The article said most offers were likely to end Sunday, December 21, while Christmas delivery deadlines were approaching. That was not a universal delivery guarantee. Destination, inventory, membership status and shipping method determined the estimate.
- Open the product page for your country and selected configuration.
- Check the delivery date shown beside the price.
- Add the item to the basket and verify the estimate again at checkout.
- If the date misses your deadline, compare another configuration or seller only after checking warranty and return terms.
Because the promotion has ended, neither its delivery promise nor its price should be carried forward to a current purchase.
Bottom line for the 2025 promotion
For most readers, Paperwhite was the best balance of comfort, features and price. The standard Kindle was the sensible budget choice. Colorsoft earned its premium only for readers who would use color frequently, while Scribe’s unusually large discount mattered only if handwriting and document annotation were central to the purchase. The headline “final sale” described the publication’s final advertised pre-Christmas promotion, not a formal Amazon guarantee that no further 2025 discount would appear.
