Enter the complete URL under Enter Your Website(s), select Add Website, and select Next to complete the declaration. If you are applying for a new account, enter the site during the registration flow instead.
Adding a URL only declares where you may use Amazon affiliate links; it does not approve the site. Amazon reviews the sites listed on the account after at least three qualifying sales within the first 180 days, and personal orders do not count.
First, identify which task you need
“Adding a website” can mean several different things:
| Situation | Correct action |
|---|---|
| Applying for Amazon Associates for the first time | Enter your website when the signup form asks for websites or other traffic sources. |
| Adding another site to an approved or existing account | Use Account Settings → Edit your website list; do not submit a second application just because you launched another site. |
| Moving from one domain to another | Add the new domain, verify it works, update links and disclosures, then remove the old domain if it is no longer used. |
| Using social pages, apps or other approved channels | Declare the exact page, app or other traffic source that will contain Amazon links. Each medium can have additional rules. |
The U.S. instructions in this article apply to Amazon.com Associates Central. Other Amazon marketplaces have separate programs and policies; see the relevant marketplace’s agreement at Amazon’s Operating Agreement for the U.S. program.

Prepare your site before adding it
Amazon expects the website in your application to be a real, usable publishing property—not an empty domain or private draft. Check these items first:
- Public URL: The site loads for ordinary visitors without a login, closed membership or paywall blocking the relevant content.
- Ownership: You own or control the domain and have authority to place affiliate links on it. Do not submit an employer’s, client’s or someone else’s site without that authority.
- Clear purpose: The site serves a defined audience and gives visitors a reason to read beyond copied retailer listings.
- Original material: Publish useful reviews, comparisons, guides or commentary. Amazon describes robust original content and gives at least 10 posts as a rule of thumb, not a guaranteed approval threshold.
- Recent activity: Amazon says website content should generally be recent—within the last 60 days during evaluation.
- Basic publisher information: An About page, Contact page, privacy policy and other legally appropriate notices help visitors and reviewers understand who operates the site.
- Disclosure: Plan to display the required Associate statement before or near affiliate recommendations.
- Accurate records: Have your legal name, payee, tax and payment information ready, and list every website, app or social page where Amazon links may appear.
These points come from Amazon’s application guidance: application review and site requirements. No published pageview minimum is stated, but you should have a realistic way to generate qualifying customer activity.

This is Amazon’s current U.S. help-page path: Adding a website to an account. Labels can shift with an interface revision or account type; if the wording differs, look for Account Settings and Edit your website list.
Add every unrelated domain on which you will actually publish Amazon links. Do not assume that one root domain automatically covers a separate domain, microsite, client property or every subdomain.

How to add a website during a new application
- Go to Associates Central and choose the registration or signup option.
- Provide the requested account and payee information.
- When prompted for websites or other traffic sources, enter the exact public URL of your site.
- Add each additional website, accepted social-media page, online software application or other channel that will contain Amazon links.
- Complete the application declarations and accept the current Operating Agreement and related policies.
- After access to Associates tools is available, create tagged Special Links rather than ordinary Amazon URLs.
- Place the required disclosure on the site before publishing affiliate recommendations.
Amazon’s agreement permits monetization through websites and certain other media, including qualifying social-media user-generated content, online software applications and Alexa skills, but the rules differ by medium. Read the Operating Agreement for the terms that apply to your channel.
What happens after the URL is listed
Your links must be tagged
Amazon Special Links contain an Associate ID or tracking tag, such as a tag resembling abcd-20. Use Amazon’s SiteStripe or other Associates link-building tools and check that the intended tracking ID is present. Copying a normal product URL does not make it a trackable affiliate link. Amazon’s requirements for Special Links are in the Operating Agreement.
Only publish links on sites and channels declared in your account. If an application is rejected and you reapply, Amazon says you may need to replace existing links with tags associated with the new application.
The review is tied to qualifying sales
Amazon says it reviews the sites listed in the application after the account generates at least three qualifying sales within the first 180 days. Personal orders do not count. Reviewers can examine every listed site, not just the page containing a link, so keep all declared properties compliant throughout the review period. Amazon does not promise a review time, traffic volume, approval, commission rate or income.

Disclosure, branding and lawful promotion
Amazon requires a clear and prominent statement substantially like:
“As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”
Place it where readers can see it before or near affiliate recommendations, such as an affiliate-disclosure notice and relevant page introductions. Do not rely only on a remote legal page if the surrounding presentation could mislead readers. This statement does not replace any disclosure required by applicable advertising, privacy or consumer-protection law, or by a social platform.
Use Amazon branding only as the agreement permits. Do not copy Amazon customer reviews or product content without authorization, use logos or trademarks in a way that implies sponsorship, or claim that Amazon endorses your business. Do not offer rewards, discounts, charitable credit or other consideration for clicking or buying through your link, and never use your own links for personal purchases or ask friends to create artificial qualifying orders.

If social media will carry your links, declare the exact page URL—not merely facebook.com, youtube.com or another platform homepage. Amazon’s current guidance lists Facebook open groups and fan pages, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and Twitch.tv, subject to its requirements. Personal Facebook pages are excluded, and social pages generally need a substantive organic audience, in most cases at least 500 followers or likes.
Review the current requirements at Amazon’s application guidance before relying on a social account as your primary property.

After a domain migration
- Add the new domain to Edit your website list.
- Confirm that it is publicly accessible and resolves correctly on mobile and desktop.
- Check every affiliate disclosure and tagged link after the move.
- Ensure redirects do not conceal the actual traffic source.
- Remove the old domain once it is no longer used.
Amazon’s removal instructions say an account must retain at least one website: removing a website. Amazon also provides a separate guide to managing multiple websites.
If you entered the wrong URL
Edit the website list and replace or remove the incorrect property, while retaining at least one site. Correct the list before publishing links so your account record remains complete, accurate and current.
Best Value
Pre-submission rejection check
- The submitted URL is live, public and controlled by you.
- The site has a clear topic, useful original content and recent publishing activity.
- You have not relied mainly on copied product descriptions or thin automatically generated pages.
- Every website, app and social page carrying links is listed with its exact URL.
- Your disclosure is clear and prominent.
- Your links use Amazon’s Special Link format and the correct tracking tag.
- You do not use unapproved Amazon trademarks, reviews, images or wording that implies endorsement.
- You are not using self-referrals, incentives or personal purchases to create qualifying activity.
- Your account, tax and payment information is accurate.
If Amazon rejects the application
Amazon says it cannot reassess an application once rejected, so prevention is more useful than treating rejection as a routine appeal. Read the stated reason, fix the underlying problem, and correct the website list before reapplying. Typical fixes include adding genuinely original material, opening blocked pages to public visitors, correcting disclosures, removing misleading branding and replacing ordinary or obsolete links with tags associated with the new application.
Do not create duplicate applications casually. Follow Amazon’s duplicate-application guidance at Amazon’s help center and use its support process when your situation is unclear.
A practical sequence
Prepare the site → add the exact URL → complete the declaration → use tagged Special Links → disclose the relationship → generate qualifying sales from real customers → maintain compliance across every listed property.
Quick Recap
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
