To change the currency Airbnb uses to display prices, open Menu → Languages & currency → Currency and choose a currency. If you’re about to book, you can also change the payment currency under Price details. Hosts use a separate setting for payout currency.
First, choose the currency setting you need
- Display currency: How prices appear while you browse Airbnb.
- Payment currency: The currency used to pay for a booking.
- Payout currency: The currency in which Airbnb sends a host’s earnings.
- Receipt currency: The currency recorded for a payment already made.
Changing your browsing currency does not convert a completed payment or change a host’s payout setup.

Change your default display currency as a guest
On a desktop browser
- Open the Airbnb website and select Menu.
- Select Languages & currency, then Currency.
- Choose your preferred currency.
Depending on the site layout, Airbnb also documents an alternate route: select the globe icon beside your profile photo, choose Currency, then select a currency. Airbnb says prices display in the selected default currency; see its payment-currency instructions and default-currency instructions.
In the Airbnb app or on a mobile browser
In the app, open your profile or account menu and look for Languages & currency, Currency, or a currency control. The exact app labels and placement can vary, so use the desktop steps above in a mobile browser if you cannot find the setting. Airbnb’s help page provides device-specific tabs, but its accessible instructions do not expose a single app path that can be confirmed for every iOS and Android version.

Change the payment currency while booking
- Open the listing and start the booking process.
- Open or review Price details.
- Select the currency shown beside the total and choose an available option.
- Check the updated total and currency before confirming payment.
Airbnb updates the displayed amount when you change the currency. This choice applies to the current booking flow; it does not change a payment already made or switch the currency of upcoming scheduled payments for that reservation. The payment options available can depend on your payment method and location, as described in Airbnb’s currency guidance and supported-currency information.
Why your preferred currency may be unavailable
Airbnb displays currencies it can process, not every currency in use. Availability may depend on your country of residence, the payment method, and the Airbnb payment entity handling the transaction. A currency used for browsing may therefore be unavailable at checkout; Airbnb may ask you to use a supported currency or another payment method. How currency choice can affect the amount you pay
A changed currency changes the denomination shown or charged, but it does not guarantee a cheaper booking or an amount identical to a third-party currency converter. Airbnb says paying in a currency different from the listing currency can affect its service-fee component. Your bank or card issuer may also use its own exchange rate or add foreign-exchange or cross-border fees. Review Airbnb’s final checkout total and your card issuer’s terms before paying; no currency is always the cheapest for every guest. More detail is in Airbnb’s currency and fee guidance.
What you can change after payment
Airbnb says a payment already made cannot be changed to another currency, and upcoming payments on the same reservation cannot be switched through its currency-change process. A receipt reflects the currency used for the payment; Airbnb cannot issue a replacement receipt in a different currency. If you need a different currency, contact Airbnb Support before paying rather than expecting a completed transaction or receipt to be converted. See payment-currency rules and receipt guidance.

If you’re a host: change your payout currency
A host’s payout currency is tied to the payout method and its country or provider details. Airbnb says you cannot edit the currency of an existing payout method; add a new method that supports the currency you want instead.
- On desktop, open Menu → Account settings → Payments → Payouts.
- Select Add payout method and enter the requested country and payment details.
- Complete any identity, tax, banking, or other verification Airbnb requests.
- After the new method is valid, select it as the default if you want future payouts sent there.
Airbnb says the first payout method added becomes the default unless you later choose another. Keep an existing method in place until the replacement is verified and selected, to avoid disrupting payouts. Country, payout method, and Airbnb’s contracting entity can limit available currencies, and payment providers may charge transaction or conversion fees. Troubleshoot a payment that fails after a currency change
- Try the currency Airbnb suggests at checkout.
- Try another payment method that supports the selected currency.
- Check with your bank or card issuer for international-transaction blocks, foreign-exchange fees, or transaction limits.
- Verify the card details, billing address, ZIP or postal code, and security code.
- Try the booking in a desktop or mobile browser instead of the app.
- If the currency remains unavailable or payment continues to fail, contact Airbnb Support.
