Before buying, review the condition label and the specific listing notes, confirm which parts are included, compare the total cost with a new item, and check the offer’s return terms and any applicable manufacturer warranty.
What is Amazon Resale?
Amazon Resale offers used, pre-owned, and open-box items through its Resale storefront, Amazon search, and product detail pages. Inventory changes frequently. Because each offer is tied to a particular item and condition, Amazon says it may not be able to replace a returned item with another in exactly the same condition; a similar item may be available instead. Read the details on the offer you plan to buy rather than relying on a general product page or grade alone.
What do Amazon Resale condition labels mean?
Amazon says it inspects and tests items before assigning one of four conditions. These labels are broad descriptions, not an independent certification of the individual item. Check the offer’s notes for disclosed wear and missing accessories or parts.

For electronics, Amazon says its evaluation includes powering on, testing, and factory-resetting the item. That process does not guarantee that an individual offer has no undisclosed issue, so inspect the listing notes and check the item after delivery.

How to compare a Resale offer before buying
- Read the condition notes. Look for disclosed scratches, dents, packaging changes, and missing accessories or components; do not infer details from the grade alone.
- Confirm what you need is included. Check whether the item can be used for your intended purpose with the listed parts. If an accessory is missing, account for its cost and the effort of buying it separately.
- Compare the full cost. Compare the Resale price with the price of the same product new, adding the cost of any replacement parts you expect to need. Discounts vary by item and condition, so a savings percentage is meaningful only against a current, like-for-like offer.
- Check return eligibility and timing. Review the exact offer and applicable policy before checkout, including any category-specific exception.
- Verify warranty coverage separately. Check the product detail page or ask the manufacturer whether coverage applies to that product, serial number, and purchase route.
Can you return Amazon Resale products?
Amazon says Amazon Resale purchases are covered by Amazon’s returns policy. Its current U.S. policy generally allows items shipped from Amazon.com, including Amazon Resale, to be returned within 30 days of delivery, but exceptions apply. The window and eligibility can depend on the item or category, so confirm the terms for the specific offer and at checkout in Amazon’s return policy.
Does Amazon Resale include a warranty?
Do not assume a manufacturer warranty transfers to every pre-owned item. Amazon’s return-policy guidance directs customers to review warranty details on the product detail page or contact the manufacturer. Ask the manufacturer about the exact product and purchase route if warranty coverage matters to your decision.

Amazon Renewed is a separate program, not a blanket warranty for Amazon Resale. Amazon’s Renewed seller guidance describes a 90-day replacement-or-refund guarantee when a Renewed product does not work as expected; that guarantee should not be applied to an ordinary Resale offer unless the listing is specifically part of the Renewed program.
Amazon Resale is not the same as Amazon Renewed
Resale condition labels describe the stated condition of a used, pre-owned, or open-box offer. Renewed is a separate program with its own terms. Amazon also offers sellers a service called FBA Grade and Resell, under which Amazon may inspect eligible returns and relist some in Used conditions. That seller service does not establish the warranty or return terms for every buyer-facing Resale listing.

What Amazon’s repair figure does—and does not—tell you
Amazon reported that its repair partners repaired more than 7.6 million products in the U.S. and Europe in 2022. That historical figure describes Amazon’s repair operations; it does not show that a particular Resale item was repaired.
