Forbes’ “Pi Network [IOU] (PI) Price Today, News & Live Chart” page is an IOU market-data page, not a guaranteed price for transferable native PI. The quote shown there represents a particular venue’s instrument at a particular time. Before comparing it with another PI quote or sending funds, check whether you are looking at an IOU or native PI, whether withdrawals are enabled, which exchange supplied the data, and when the figure was recorded.
What the “[IOU]” label means
An IOU is a claim or contractual representation issued by a venue rather than the native asset held in a Pi Network wallet. An IOU may trade on one exchange without being withdrawable to another exchange or to the Pi Mainnet. Holding an IOU therefore does not automatically give you a transferable PI balance or a redemption right on every platform.
Forbes labels its page explicitly as Pi Network [IOU] and warns that prices on certain exchanges can represent IOUs that are not transferable across exchanges. Treat the displayed number as a platform-specific market value, not as a universal PI price, proof of redemption, or evidence that the instrument can be moved elsewhere.
What the Forbes page contains
- A PI-to-USD conversion calculator.
- An area chart identified as using CoinGecko data.
- A historical-price information panel.
- News and market-data context around the listed IOU instrument.
A search-result snapshot associated with the page showed $0.0963 and +0.60%. That snapshot was crawled approximately two weeks before September 30, 2026, so it is not a current quote and should not be presented as today’s price. For a live figure, open the page directly and record the displayed price, percentage change, quote currency, venue and timestamp.

Why different PI pages show different prices
Price aggregators can combine different venues, instruments and liquidity conditions. CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko both identify IOU-specific caveats; CoinGecko’s retrieved result also listed circulating supply as unavailable for the IOU asset. A discrepancy is not automatically an error.

Native PI after Open Network
Pi Network announced that Open Network launched on February 20, 2025. Its launch material says the firewall used during Enclosed Network was removed, enabling external connectivity and allowing centralized exchanges and onramps to integrate after passing Pi’s KYB review. Open Network availability does not convert every exchange-listed IOU into native PI. You still have to identify the exact asset and confirm the venue’s current transfer rules.

Pi Network reported more than 10.14 million Mainnet migrations and over 19 million identity-verified Pioneers in its February 2025 announcement. These were project-reported milestones at that time, not current user or supply counts. In a June 19, 2025 update, Pi Network reported 7.4 billion PI migrated, including 5.2 billion locked and 2.20 billion unlocked; those figures are also historical project disclosures, not a current valuation or circulating-supply measure.
How to read the Forbes chart without overclaiming
Start with the asset name
Confirm that the heading or market selector still says [IOU]. Do not interpret a ticker such as PI by itself as proof that the quote is native Mainnet PI.

Record a complete observation
Write down the price, percentage move, quote currency, chart interval, data provider and the exact time you viewed it. A percentage change without its comparison period is incomplete.
Check liquidity and venue terms
Review the markets represented by the page and whether the relevant exchange permits deposits and withdrawals. A displayed trade price does not establish that you can buy, withdraw or redeem the asset.

Use historical panels carefully
Historical charts describe the selected instrument’s reported trading history. They do not prove that an IOU represented native PI throughout the period or that past prices can be realized now.

- Find the exchange or onramp’s current Pi Network KYB status using Pi Network’s official safety and KYB information.
- Confirm the listing’s exact asset name, network, contract or wallet details and whether it is native PI or an IOU.
- Read the venue’s deposit, withdrawal, conversion and redemption terms; look specifically for transfer restrictions between exchanges.
- Check geographic eligibility and account requirements before sending funds. Availability can differ by jurisdiction.
- Use a small test amount only after the destination and network have been independently verified, and never share your wallet recovery phrase or private keys.
Pi Network warns about unauthorized token listings, imitation sites and third-party services that claim integration without appearing on its KYB list. A market-data page or search result is not an endorsement of a venue.

News and ecosystem claims versus price evidence
Open Network announcements, migration totals and ecosystem developments can explain why traders are interested in PI, but they do not establish the transferability, redemption, liquidity or investment value of a particular IOU. Keep those questions separate: utility claims describe a project or service, while the Forbes chart reports a market quote for the listed instrument.

- Same instrument: native PI compared with native PI, or the same IOU compared with that IOU.
- Same time: capture both observations close together and include the time zone.
- Same currency: compare USD with USD or convert transparently.

- Same transfer assumptions: verify whether both markets support deposits and withdrawals on the required network.
- Supply treatment: avoid market-cap comparisons when supply is unavailable or describes a different asset.
What the Forbes number does—and does not—tell you
- It tells you the reported market value of the selected PI IOU at the page’s data sources and observation time.
- It does not guarantee a redemption price for native PI.
- It does not show that the IOU can be transferred across exchanges.
- It does not verify an exchange’s authorization, KYB status or geographic availability.
- It does not provide a current circulating-supply figure when the underlying aggregator reports supply as unavailable.
