At that price, it is a strong budget pick for shoppers who want over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation, long claimed battery life, and useful app features. The price is not universal, though: another Best Buy listing showed $49.99, while Soundcore’s U.S. product page displayed $69.99. The Q20i is a value buy, not a premium noise-cancelling headset.
Where to find the Q20i for about $40
Price and availability were checked on August 18, 2026. Walmart listings showed the black Q20i at $39.99; at least one listing identified AnkerDirect as the seller. Check the Walmart listing and confirm the seller and final price before checkout. An alternate Walmart listing also showed the product at that price, but listings can differ.
One Best Buy listing showed $39.99, while another Best Buy product page showed $49.99. Soundcore’s U.S. product page displayed $69.99. These are snapshots, not a promise that every color, seller, or store has the same price; Soundcore’s displayed price also does not establish a usual street price.
Before paying, check that the listing is for new Q20i headphones in the color you want, verify the seller and fulfillment details, and review shipping and the cart total. The cited listings do not establish that every buyer will get free shipping, pickup, or the same return terms. No sale end date was stated.

What the Q20i does well at $40
Useful features without a premium price
The combination of over-ear fit, hybrid ANC, Transparency mode, multipoint Bluetooth, app EQ, and an AUX fallback is unusually extensive for a headphone selling around $40. Multipoint can connect the headphones to, for example, a laptop and phone, which is handy when moving between a meeting and music. It does not play audio from both devices at once, and switching behavior can depend on the connected devices.

- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40-Hour Long Battery Life and Fast Charging: With 40 hours of battery life with ANC on and 60 hours in normal mode, you can commute in peace with your Bluetooth headphones without thinking about recharging. Fast charge for 5 mins to get an extra 4 hours of music listening for daily users.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
Bass-forward sound with room to adjust
Soundcore promotes BassUp processing and a bass-oriented sound. That profile may suit pop, hip-hop, electronic music, and video content. The soundcore app offers 22 presets as well as manual EQ adjustment, so you can tune the presentation to taste. EQ can change tonal balance; it cannot change the headphones’ underlying hardware or ANC performance.
Soundcore and Best Buy describe Hi-Res compatibility when listening through the AUX cable. That should not be taken as a claim that Bluetooth listening uses Hi-Res audio. The available specifications do not establish audiophile-grade performance or a neutral, reference-style sound.

Long claimed battery life
Soundcore claims up to 40 hours with ANC on and up to 60 hours with ANC off. Its FAQ says playback figures were measured at 50% volume with three songs looped; volume, content, calls, ANC use, surroundings, and battery age can all affect actual runtime. Treat those figures as controlled-test maximums, not a guarantee for every day or listening setup. The manual lists about 90 minutes for charging.
Fast-charge wording varies between Soundcore materials: the product page says a five-minute charge provides about four hours of playback, while the Q20i FAQ describes four hours after a ten-minute charge. Do not assume one result applies in every situation.

Where the budget compromises show
ANC is aimed at steady noise, not silence
Soundcore advertises reduction of up to 90% of external noise, particularly low-frequency sounds such as engine or aircraft rumble. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent measurement or a promise of a 90% reduction in perceived loudness in every setting. ANC is generally most useful against steady low-frequency noise; voices, keyboard sounds, announcements, and sudden sounds may remain audible. Transparency mode is available when you need to hear more of your surroundings.
The Q20i is not hearing protection and should not be used as a substitute for protection in hazardous environments.

Fit, calls, and durability are not guaranteed strengths
Comfort depends on head and ear shape. Best Buy’s retailer-generated customer-summary data includes positive mentions of comfort and some reports that the headphones feel heavy; that is customer feedback, not a fit test. The available evidence does not establish microphone performance in noisy environments, so choose another headset if consistently clear calls are essential.
Because Best Buy lists the headphones as not water resistant, they are a poor choice for running, sweaty workouts, or use in rain. The provided specifications also do not establish a compact travel case or premium build.
Should you spend more on the Life Q30 or Space One?
Soundcore’s ANC-headphone catalog displayed both step-up models at sale prices on August 18, 2026. The prices may change, and the listed savings are not proof of a typical market price.
| Model | Displayed price on August 18, 2026 | What the available product information suggests | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soundcore Q20i | $39.99 at select Walmart and Best Buy listings | Hybrid ANC, app EQ, multipoint, Transparency mode, and up to 40 hours of claimed playback with ANC on | Keeping the cost near $40 while getting a broad feature set |
| Soundcore Life Q30 | $49.99, displayed against $79.99 | Positioned by Soundcore as a more feature-rich ANC option with comfort-focused construction | Buyers willing to pay about $10 more for the step-up features |
| Soundcore Space One | $63.00, displayed against $89.99 | Positioned around upgraded ANC, voice reduction, transparency controls, and comfort | Buyers prepared to move above the $50 range |
Prices and positioning for the two alternatives come from Soundcore’s ANC-headphones catalog. If the Life Q30 is still just $10 more when you shop, compare its current feature details and return terms against the Q20i rather than assuming the cheaper option is automatically the better value. The cited catalog does not provide comparable battery figures for these alternatives.
Who should buy the Q20i—and who should skip it
Buy at $39.99 if
- You want inexpensive over-ear headphones for commuting, travel, school, or general listening.
- You value long claimed battery life and basic ANC more than top-tier noise cancellation.
- You enjoy bass-forward sound or want app EQ options.
- You regularly switch between a phone and laptop and can use multipoint.
- You want a wired AUX option as a fallback.
Skip it or consider a different model if
- You need water resistance for exercise or wet conditions.
- You prioritize strong isolation of voices or the best ANC available.
- You want neutral sound, very light headphones, or proven call quality in noisy places.
- You need a carrying case or another accessory that the specific listing does not confirm.
- The Q20i is near $69.99 and a better-equipped alternative is close in price.
Checkout and setup checks
- Confirm the listing. Check that the product is the Q20i, the color and condition are right, and the seller is the one you intend to buy from.
- Check the total. Review shipping, pickup availability, and the cart price; a search result price may not carry through to a different listing or fulfillment option.
- Set up the app if you want its features. The soundcore app is used for EQ, modes, white-noise features, and firmware updates. App screens and account requirements can change.
- Keep the headphones powered on and connected during firmware updates. The manual says to maintain that connection while updating; do not interrupt the process.
- If charging from a computer causes a current warning, try a suitable adapter. Soundcore’s FAQ says the Q20i draws about 600 mA and recommends a genuine 5 V adapter rated at no less than 1 A for this issue.
Soundcore’s FAQ and the manual provide the charging and update guidance.
