Those prices and the available configurations can change, so confirm the exact SKU, stock and checkout total before paying.

ASUS labels each reduction “SAVE $100.00.” The catalog does not show the same reduction for every ASUS Chromebook Plus family; CX14 and CX15 listings should not be assumed to qualify.
Which one is the best deal?
Best value: CX34
At $399.99, the CX34 is the default pick when you want a conventional laptop for schoolwork, documents, browsing, streaming and video calls. It is $100 less than the CM34 Flip and $200 less than the CX54, with no convertible hardware you may never use.
Best for flexibility: CM34 Flip
Pay the extra $100 for the CM34 Flip if touch input, tablet mode, tent mode or flexible presentation angles will matter. The hinge and touch capability are the reason to buy it—not a promise of universally faster performance.

Best premium option: ExpertBook CX54
The CX54 makes sense for buyers who value a lighter metal chassis, a higher-resolution display option or a higher-tier processor configuration. It is not automatically the fastest configuration at $599.99; ASUS’s “up to” specifications describe the family, not necessarily the discounted SKU.
ASUS Chromebook Plus CX34: the inexpensive clamshell
The indexed ASUS CX34 page showed one $399.99 configuration with a 12th-generation Intel Core i3-1215U, Intel UHD Graphics, a 14-inch 1920×1080 anti-glare non-touch display rated at 250 nits, and 256 GB of UFS storage. The same family page indicates that other configurations, including Core i5 versions, exist, so the model name alone does not identify the hardware you will receive.

Choose it when
- You want the lowest ASUS price in this group.
- A normal clamshell is all you need.
- Your workload is Chrome tabs, office documents, video calls, streaming and light productivity.
Skip it when
- You specifically need a touchscreen or tablet mode.
- You require Windows-only applications or specialized peripherals.
- The selected SKU has less memory or storage than your files and apps require.
ASUS Chromebook Plus CM34 Flip: pay for the convertible design
The CM34 Flip family uses a 360-degree ErgoLift hinge and is designed for touch-oriented use. ASUS advertises a 16:10 NanoEdge display, FHD webcam, backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi 6 and configurations with up to an AMD Ryzen 5 7520C and 16 GB of memory.
Why the premium can be worthwhile
- Tablet, tent and stand modes are useful for reading, drawing or presenting.
- Touch interaction can be more convenient than a trackpad for some Android apps.
- The 16:10 format provides more vertical workspace than a typical 16:9 panel.
What the extra $100 does not guarantee
It does not establish a particular storage capacity, brightness, processor or memory amount. Check the individual CM3401 listing before ordering, because retailer-specific configurations may differ.

ASUS ExpertBook CX54: a premium Chromebook Plus choice
ASUS lists the ExpertBook CX54 at $599.99 versus $699.99. The family is advertised with options up to Intel Core Ultra 7, a 16:10 WQXGA display, up to 16 GB of memory, a 1.3 kg all-metal chassis, and anti-glare, anti-fingerprint treatment.
Who benefits from it
- Professionals who prefer a lighter, more substantial metal-bodied laptop.
- Users who can obtain the higher-resolution display or Core Ultra configuration at the sale price.
- People willing to spend $200 more than the CX34 for build and feature upgrades.
Reasons to be cautious
The $599.99 offer may correspond to a lower configuration than the family maximums. ExpertBook branding alone does not prove that a unit includes enterprise management, a Chrome Enterprise Upgrade or extended business support. Compare the exact processor, RAM, storage, display and warranty.

What Chromebook Plus means
Chromebook Plus is Google’s higher-spec Chromebook tier. Compared with entry-level Chromebooks, Plus models generally target better performance, memory, storage, webcam quality and Google AI features such as Gemini integration. The tier does not make every model identical: processors, screen quality, battery behavior and ports still vary by ASUS configuration.
ChromeOS is a good fit for web applications, Google Workspace, streaming, school portals and many Android or Linux workloads. Choose Windows or macOS instead if you depend on traditional Windows-only software, advanced professional tools or hardware that ChromeOS does not support.

Is $100 off a genuinely good price?
It is a meaningful reduction from ASUS’s displayed list prices, but it is not proof of the lowest price ever or the best market value. A competing Chromebook may offer more storage, a brighter screen, a faster processor or better support for a similar total. Judge the discount against the exact configuration and your workload, not only the percentage saved.
Check these details before ordering
ASUS cautions that the displayed price may not apply to every specification shown on a product page. Use this checklist at the product page and again in the cart:
- Record the complete model number and retailer SKU.
- Confirm the processor generation and model.
- Check RAM capacity and whether it meets your multitasking needs.
- Verify storage type and capacity; UFS, eMMC and SSD are not interchangeable for every workload.
- Confirm whether the screen is touch-enabled, its resolution, brightness and aspect ratio.
- Check keyboard backlighting and webcam resolution.
- Read the return policy and identify the warranty provider.
- Verify stock, delivery estimate and whether a promo code is required.
- Change no options without rechecking the price; color, storage, display and processor selections can alter it.
- Save the checkout page or order confirmation showing the final price.
Beware expired or mismatched retailer listings
Search pages can preserve old promotions. Best Buy’s indexed ASUS results included a CX14 offer with a July 20, 2026 end date, which is already past, as well as CX34 configurations at different prices. Treat those results as comparison leads, not live offers, until the retailer confirms the price and stock in your cart.
Likewise, an “up to” Core Ultra 7, 16 GB memory or WQXGA display specification does not establish that the $599.99 CX54 includes those features. Retailer listings can use similar family names for materially different hardware.

- Buy the CX34 if price matters most and a standard 14-inch laptop is sufficient.
- Buy the CM34 Flip if touch and a 360-degree hinge will be used often enough to justify $100 more.
- Buy the CX54 only when the exact discounted configuration delivers the premium chassis, display or processor features you want.
