Its current surfaced plan details describe a different offer: 200GB of premium-speed hotspot data, then speeds up to 6 Mbps, plus capped high-speed international data. In 2026, Verizon’s newer Simplicity Plan is another option—and Verizon’s indexed pages show conflicting Unlimited Ultimate prices. Ultimate is most compelling for people who regularly tether or travel internationally; a lighter user should compare a lower-cost plan before switching.
What Verizon announced in 2023
Verizon announced Unlimited Ultimate on August 29, 2023, and said it would join the myPlan lineup on August 31. It was positioned as the top tier above Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome. The figures below describe the launch offer, not necessarily the plan’s current terms.
| Launch detail | August 2023 offer |
|---|---|
| Price with Auto Pay | $90 per month for one line; $55 per line for four lines |
| Hotspot | 60GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data; Unlimited Plus had 30GB at the time |
| Phone data | Unlimited 5G Nationwide data and unlimited premium 5G Ultra Wideband data |
| International | International data, talk, and text benefits |
| Connected devices | Discounts of up to 50% on two connected-device lines |
| Device offers and perks | Access to Verizon’s best device promotions; optional perks generally remained separate and cost $10 each |
These launch details were reported at the time by Droid Life. The headline’s “more data” mainly referred to the hotspot increase over Unlimited Plus, as well as the plan’s premium phone-data and international features—not a promise that every kind of data would be unlimited at full speed.
What Unlimited Ultimate includes now
Verizon’s surfaced plan material in 2026 describes the following features. Plan terms and availability can change, so check the live plan comparison and your account before making a change.
#1 Best Overall

- Optimized to Share WiFi: Confidently connect up to 20 devices simultaneously.

| Feature | Current surfaced detail |
|---|---|
| Domestic phone data | Unlimited premium data, including 5G Ultra Wideband access; actual service depends on coverage, compatible device, and network conditions. |
| Hotspot | Unlimited hotspot use, with 200GB of premium hotspot data; after that, speeds are up to 6 Mbps. |
| International data | Data, talk, and text in more than 210 countries and destinations. The plan page lists 15GB of high-speed international data, then speeds up to 1.5 Mbps. |
| International calling | Verizon lists international calling options through Global Choice. |
| Device promotions | Verizon associates its “best” phone upgrade offers with Ultimate; eligibility and offer terms vary. |
| Optional perks | Do not assume entertainment or security subscriptions are included in the base plan; check the current plan details and any selected perks. |
These current feature descriptions come from Verizon’s surfaced Unlimited plan information. “Unlimited” needs context: phone data, hotspot data, and international data have different terms. Verizon’s 200GB hotspot allowance is the premium-speed bucket, not an unlimited high-speed tethering allowance.
Why the price needs checking before you switch
The launch price was $90 per month for one line and $55 per line for four lines, with Auto Pay. That is historical pricing, not a reliable quote for a new line or an existing customer in 2026. Verizon’s indexed pages show inconsistent standard one-line prices—$90 on one page and $95 on another—and can show different multi-line rates as well. The pages do not establish a single current price that applies to every customer. Check the price and eligibility in Verizon’s plan comparison and your My Verizon or checkout flow before changing plans.
Compare the expected bill, not just the plan’s advertised line price. Auto Pay and paperless-billing eligibility, line count, taxes and fees, device installments, insurance, promotions, and optional perks can all affect what you pay. Promotional credits may also depend on stated conditions. If you are considering a phone upgrade, confirm the offer’s eligibility and credit terms rather than treating the plan’s upgrade positioning as a guaranteed discount.

What the hotspot allowance means in practice
Phone data and hotspot data are not interchangeable plan limits. Your phone can use its domestic data allowance directly, while a laptop, tablet, or other device connected through your phone uses hotspot data. Under the current surfaced terms, the first 200GB of hotspot use gets premium speeds; after that, hotspot use continues at speeds of up to 6 Mbps.
- Potential fit: A remote worker who routinely tethers a laptop, a frequent traveler who needs a phone-based connection, or someone who uses hotspot as a backup may get meaningful value from a larger premium-speed allowance.
- Not the same as uncapped broadband: The post-allowance speed limit can affect demanding tasks, and network conditions still matter. Treat phone hotspot as a backup only if it meets your needs and Verizon’s terms—not as a universal home-internet replacement.
- Check your actual use: If your recent hotspot use is well below what a cheaper option provides, extra capacity may not justify a higher plan cost.
Coverage, device compatibility, congestion, and location affect domestic performance, and 5G Ultra Wideband is not available everywhere. A plan’s premium-data status cannot guarantee a particular speed at a particular place.
How the international benefit compares with TravelPass
Ultimate bundles international data, talk, and text, which can make it more convenient for frequent travelers than paying by the day. It does not provide unrestricted full-speed data abroad: Verizon’s surfaced plan details list 15GB of high-speed international data, followed by speeds up to 1.5 Mbps. Coverage and service availability vary by destination.

Verizon says TravelPass cannot be added to Unlimited Ultimate because international data, talk, and text are already included. For other eligible plans, Verizon lists TravelPass at $12 per line per day in more than 210 countries and destinations, with 5GB of high-speed data per TravelPass session before data continues at 3G speeds. Verizon lists a $6 daily rate in Canada and Mexico where applicable. See the terms for international travel and TravelPass.
Occasional travelers can compare TravelPass charges on the days they use service with the year-round price difference between Ultimate and a cheaper domestic plan. For an extended trip or heavy international data use, a local SIM or travel eSIM may be worth considering; setup, coverage, voice and text support, and device compatibility vary. Verizon also lists an International Monthly Plan for customers who want to keep their domestic plan. Check its current terms and cost against your itinerary rather than assuming one option is always cheaper.

For Canada and Mexico, Verizon says it may remove or limit service if more than 50% of a line’s talk, text, or data use over a 60-day period occurs in those countries. That restriction matters to border commuters and long stays; consult Verizon’s international travel terms.

Unlimited Ultimate versus Simplicity in 2026
Verizon introduced the Simplicity Plan in June 2026 and describes it as replacing the tiered myPlan structure for its flagship offering. Verizon’s comparison page also says myPlan options remain available to customers who prefer the tiered structure, so the new flagship does not automatically mean every existing Unlimited Ultimate account must change. The surfaced features and price signals differ:
| Plan | Surfaced features | Surfaced price signal | Likely fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlimited Ultimate | 200GB premium-speed hotspot data, then up to 6 Mbps; 15GB high-speed international data, then up to 1.5 Mbps; international data, talk, and text in more than 210 destinations. | Indexed Verizon pages conflict between $90 and $95 for one line; verify your live quote. | People who need substantially more hotspot capacity, broader included international benefits, or an Ultimate-specific device promotion. |
| Simplicity Plan | Unlimited premium domestic data, 10GB of high-speed hotspot data, 5G Ultra Wideband access, Canada and Mexico roaming, satellite texting, Call Filter, and Verizon Family. | Verizon’s comparison page showed $45 per line with Auto Pay and a $30 switch-discount price; confirm current availability and eligibility. | Customers who want a simpler, lower-cost Verizon option and do not need Ultimate’s larger hotspot allowance or international package. |
Feature and price signals are from Verizon’s plan comparison page; its listed promotional price should not be treated as a permanent rate or a discount everyone qualifies for. Simplicity’s 10GB hotspot allowance is far below Ultimate’s current 200GB premium-speed bucket, while the surfaced comparison does not describe Simplicity as providing the same international package.

Frequent tetherers and remote workers
Ultimate is most defensible when a line regularly uses more hotspot data than a lower tier offers. Check the amount used, how often you need a laptop connection, and whether the service is dependable where you work. Large hotspot capacity can be useful without making the connection equivalent to fixed broadband.

Frequent international travelers
Compare your travel pattern with the included high-speed allowance and the alternative cost of daily or monthly travel service. Ultimate can simplify repeated trips, but travelers who use a great deal of data abroad may still need another connection after the high-speed threshold.
Customers considering a device promotion
Verizon ties its best phone upgrade offers to Ultimate, but a promotion’s actual value depends on eligibility, required plan duration, trade-in conditions, and credits. Compare the net device cost and plan cost over the full offer period.
Light users and Wi-Fi-heavy households
If you mostly use Wi-Fi, rarely tether, and travel internationally only occasionally, Ultimate’s distinguishing allowances may go unused. Compare Simplicity or another lower-cost plan using current account-specific pricing. Verizon’s current plan comparison also lists Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome; confirm their live features rather than applying the 2023 plan specifications.
A five-minute value check
- Review recent hotspot use. Check the last three months and note whether your use would exceed the alternative plan’s hotspot allowance.
- Add up international costs. Review travel charges and days abroad, then compare them with Ultimate’s monthly price difference and international data terms.
- Consider where service matters. Think about performance at your home, workplace, and regular travel locations; plan labels do not guarantee coverage or speeds.
- Verify device-offer eligibility. Check the exact trade-in, financing, plan, and billing conditions for any promotion you intend to use.
- Compare total bills in checkout. Include Auto Pay eligibility, line count, taxes, fees, device payments, insurance, perks, and promotional credits. If the account offers different plan choices by line, see whether only the high-use traveler or tetherer needs Ultimate.
Verdict: a specialized premium plan, not an automatic upgrade
Unlimited Ultimate is worth considering when its hotspot capacity, international package, or eligible device offers solve a recurring need. It is harder to justify for someone whose phone mostly stays on Wi-Fi and who seldom travels or tethers. Because the current indexed price signals conflict and plan terms can change, make the decision using your own Verizon checkout quote and recent usage—not the 2023 launch price or the word “unlimited.”
