Affiliate World Asia Bangkok 2022 was most valuable as a concentrated networking and market-exposure event, not as a beginner marketing course. The two-day conference brought affiliates, advertisers, networks, agencies, media buyers and other performance-marketing professionals to Bangkok for exhibition-floor conversations, stage sessions, informal meetups, entertainment and an official after-party. One attendee’s account found the strongest benefits in meeting international operators, discovering possible partnerships and learning practical ideas, while warning that newcomers without campaigns, results or specific questions may struggle to justify the cost.
This is a first-person experience report, not a complete audit of every session or attendee outcome. Contemporary listings place the Bangkok edition on November 30–December 1, 2022; the original account’s wording (“29th Nov and 1st Dec”) appears to contain a date error. What Affiliate World Asia was designed to do
Affiliate World is a marketplace for performance marketing. Affiliates and media buyers look for offers and distribution partners; advertisers seek publishers; networks connect both sides; agencies and technology companies sell services; and speakers discuss tactics, platforms and market trends.

That mix changes the value proposition. A conventional course promises a defined curriculum. An affiliate conference offers access: people to meet, offers to investigate, traffic sources to compare and relationships that may develop after the event. Access can create an opportunity, but a conversation is not a signed deal and a discount is not proof of profitability.
Arrival and the Bangkok venue
The conference took place at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre in the CentralWorld/Pathumwan commercial area. The account describes registering, collecting a badge and entering a busy, polished event floor with an international feel. The venue’s scale supported many simultaneous conversations, although a large exhibition can also feel spread out and make it difficult to decide where to spend limited time.
Prepare before leaving for Bangkok
- Save your confirmation email and check the event’s identification requirements.
- Write a target list of advertisers, networks, agencies, traffic sources and potential partners.
- Book priority meetings in advance rather than relying only on chance encounters.
- Prepare a one-sentence explanation of your niche, traffic source, audience and current objective.
- Budget the ticket, flights, accommodation, meals, local transport and working time separately; the 2022 account does not state a historical ticket price.
Pass types and who you meet
The attendee collected an Affiliate Pass and distinguished it from a Company Pass. In practical terms, an Affiliate Pass is aimed at independent affiliates, media buyers and publishers promoting offers. A Company Pass generally suits employees of networks, advertisers, agencies, traffic sources and solution providers. Exact 2022 inclusions are not documented here. The current official page lists exhibition access, stage content, networking activities, app messaging and a first-timers’ meetup among current affiliate-pass benefits.
Networking was the main event
The most persuasive part of the account is the networking floor. Areas near the entrance offered coffee, seating and table tennis, creating low-pressure ways to start a conversation instead of walking straight up to a sales booth. Recharge areas and activity zones served a similar social purpose.
Rank #2
From casual introduction to useful lead
Collecting business cards is not the same as building a commercial relationship. During or immediately after a conversation, record:
- Whether the person is an advertiser, network, affiliate, agency, tool vendor or traffic-source representative.
- The verticals and geographies they serve.
- The traffic sources they accept and any restrictions.
- The specific next step: an offer review, account application, media-plan discussion or follow-up call.
The attendee reports conversations with representatives from Slursh, vCommission, Sugatan.io, Adsparkx and Zappian Media. These are personal encounters, not independent endorsements of those companies.
Reported conversations, carefully attributed
- Hardik Bhatia of Slursh: the account attributes to him the view that Western markets were several years ahead of Indian markets and that conferences exposed his business to newer advertising tactics.
- Parul Tarang Bhargava of vCommission: the account says she valued reconnecting with existing contacts and meeting new people, and recommended the event for affiliates, advertisers, influencers and related professionals.
- Kris Sugatan of Sugatan.io: the attendee reports that she enjoyed meeting other speakers and appreciated the organization.
- Vipul Taneja of Adsparkx: the account attributes the event’s appeal to its energy and motivational atmosphere.
- Geet Soni of Zappian Media: the reported advice was not to abandon campaigns too early and to be patient when scaling.
These statements describe what one attendee says people told him. They are not independently verified market data, and the account does not show that any conversation produced revenue or a signed agreement.
Stages and educational content
The reported program had a Main Stage for presentations and expert talks and a Breakout Stage for panels and discussions. The attendee describes influential marketers discussing emerging affiliate and advertising topics.

No complete 2022 agenda, session-by-session review, recordings or slide archive is supplied. To judge educational value, ask four questions before treating a talk as actionable:
- Does the tactic fit your traffic source, vertical and geography?
- Did the speaker provide data, costs, experiments or failure cases rather than only anecdotes?
- Was the advice aimed at your experience level?
- Can you test it without violating platform, advertiser or local compliance rules?
Recharge areas, games and massage
The account mentions recharge spaces with seating and device charging, plus foosball, table tennis and video games. These amenities made it easier to spend time with other attendees, but they also created a trade-off: entertainment can support introductions while taking time away from meetings and sessions.
The attendee also reports a free massage area offering 15-minute sessions. Treat that as an event-specific observation, not a guaranteed feature of every Affiliate World edition.
The after-party and informal business value
An official after-party formed part of the experience. Evening events can be more useful than a formal booth pitch because people often discuss goals, markets and problems more openly in a relaxed setting. They can also produce false confidence: a friendly conversation is not a qualified opportunity.

Before leaving, agree on a next action and capture the details. Follow up within 24–72 hours with the person’s vertical, geography, offer or service, compliance questions and the action you promised. A separate participant report also references the official after-party, but neither source documents attendance, conversions or revenue from it: Golden Goose’s 2022 report.
What the attendee found valuable
- Networking: direct access to affiliates, advertisers and other operators.
- International exposure: a view of tactics and markets beyond the attendee’s home market.
- Potential partnerships and deals: conversations may lead to offers, discounts or introductions, but the account records no completed deal.
- Practical learning: stage talks and peer discussions supplied ideas to investigate.
- Energy and motivation: the concentration of active marketers made the industry feel tangible.
The evidence supports access and opportunity. It does not establish a guaranteed return, exclusive offer, profit increase or other measured business outcome.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What was disappointing
The clearest criticism was the lack of free snacks or food relative to the cost of attending. That small complaint points to a larger budgeting issue. Your real cost includes:
- Ticket and possible pass upgrades.
- Airfare, accommodation, meals and local transport.
- Time away from campaigns, clients or a job.
- The opportunity cost of another conference or working those days.
The original account does not state the 2022 ticket price, so current promotional prices cannot be used as a historical figure. Current ticket categories and benefits change by edition; verify them on the official page before booking.
Best Value
Who was likely to benefit?
Strong candidates
- Affiliates already generating traffic or revenue.
- Media buyers with campaigns to improve or scale.
- Advertisers seeking distribution partners.
- Affiliate networks recruiting publishers and advertisers.
- Agencies seeking clients, vendors or partnerships.
- E-commerce operators, creators and publishers with a defined audience or offer category.
People who may not recover the cost
- Absolute beginners who have not launched anything.
- Visitors without a niche, offer, traffic source or business objective.
- Anyone expecting a beginner course or guaranteed income.
- People unable to fund travel and time away from work.
- Attendees who dislike direct networking and plan to learn passively.
The beginner warning is the author’s opinion, not an official eligibility rule. A newcomer with a specific research goal and carefully scheduled meetings could still learn, but should not assume that simply attending creates a business.
A practical “is it worth it?” test
| Your objective | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Networking | Have you booked relevant meetings with decision-makers, and can you explain what you offer? |
| Education | Will the sessions address your channel and vertical with evidence you can apply? |
| Business development | Are deal size, geography, payout, tracking, compliance and onboarding realistic? |
| Career or market exposure | Will access to international practitioners change your strategy or relationships? |
Score the event against one primary objective. If you cannot name the meetings, questions or decisions you want from the trip, the ticket and travel bill are difficult to justify.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Arriving without pre-booked meetings.
- Treating every booth conversation as a qualified lead.
- Failing to record context and agreed follow-up.
- Ignoring traffic restrictions, payment terms, tracking, approval rules and geography.
- Assuming a speaker’s success story transfers directly to your business.
- Spending the event in gaming or social areas while missing priority meetings.
- Assuming current prices, app features or pass benefits applied to 2022.
- Judging return on investment immediately instead of tracking approvals, meetings, partnerships and revenue over subsequent months.
