Costco extended gas-station hours at many North American locations during fiscal Q2 2025, generally keeping stations open about an hour later and opening some earlier. CEO Ron Vachris said the change was intended to make fueling more convenient, including for commuters traveling early in the morning or in the evening. Hours still vary by warehouse, so check your specific station before you go.
What changed in Costco gas station hours?
On Costco’s March 6, 2025, Q2 FY2025 earnings call, president and CEO Ron Vachris said, “Generally, our stations are now staying open an hour later than they did previously, with some opening earlier as well.” He described the purpose as making filling up more convenient for members.

The change applied across many North American stations, but Costco did not announce one schedule that applies to every location. The actual opening and closing times depend on the warehouse.
Why did Costco extend the hours?
To make fueling more convenient
Costco said the extension was intended to give members more opportunities to fill up. Longer hours can help members who cannot easily visit during the station’s previous schedule.

To improve station usage
Costco reported improved overall gas-station usage after the change and said it was pleased with members’ reaction. The company’s fiscal 2025 annual report counted 747 gas stations at year-end, making even a broadly applied schedule change relevant across a large network.

What time does Costco gas close?
For a broad U.S. reference, CBS News reported these Costco gas hours in February 2025:
| Day | Reported hours |
|---|---|
| Monday–Friday | 6:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. |
| Saturday | 6:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m. |
| Sunday | 6:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. |
These are reported hours, not a guarantee for every warehouse. Costco says gas-station service hours can vary by location, and holiday schedules may include adjusted hours or closures.

How to check your local Costco gas hours
- Open Costco’s official gasoline locator or the Costco app.
- Select the exact warehouse you plan to visit.
- Check the station’s listed hours and fuel prices in its details.
- Look for holiday closures or adjusted hours before making a special trip.
For a choice between nearby stations, compare the listed hours and price with your driving distance and expected wait. Local hours and prices are more useful than a national schedule when deciding where and when to fill up.

No. Costco’s 2025 announcement described longer schedules, not round-the-clock service. It also did not establish a commitment to another nationwide extension after that change. Check the selected station’s current listing because schedules may vary and change.
