How to Change MPIN in YONO SBI (and Reset a Forgotten One)

Learn the current way to change a YONO SBI MPIN, reset it when forgotten, distinguish it from UPI and ATM PINs, and fix common login and verification problems.

To change your YONO SBI MPIN: open the official YONO SBI app, sign in, open its Settings or security/password-management area, choose Manage MPIN, Change MPIN or a similarly named option, and create a new six-digit numeric code. Menu wording can vary by app version. If you have forgotten the code, try logging in with Internet Banking credentials and then create a new MPIN; if that is unavailable, use SBI’s official support channels.

What a YONO MPIN is—and what it is not

A YONO MPIN is a six-digit numeric code used to log in to the YONO SBI mobile app. SBI confirms that customers can set, change or remove it and can switch to Internet Banking credentials as an alternative login method (SBI YONO registration FAQ; SBI Manage Passwords).

Credential Purpose
YONO MPIN Login to the YONO SBI app
UPI PIN Authorize UPI payments
Debit-card PIN ATM and card transactions
Internet Banking password Sign in to SBI online banking
SBI Card app MPIN Login to the separate SBI Card app; its process and PIN are different (SBI Card FAQ)

Changing the YONO MPIN does not change your UPI PIN or debit-card PIN.

Before you start

  • Use the official YONO SBI app, not YONO Lite or the SBI Card app.
  • Keep your registered mobile number active in case SBI requests an OTP or mobile verification.
  • Make sure your phone has a passcode, pattern or biometric/device-lock facility enabled. SBI says device-level security is required for current YONO registration and login conditions (SBI YONO registration FAQ).
  • For a normal change, know your existing YONO MPIN. For a forgotten MPIN, have Internet Banking credentials or another supported verification method available.

How to change your MPIN when you know the current one

  1. Open the official YONO SBI app.
  2. Log in with your current MPIN. If the app offers another login method, you can use that instead.
  3. Open Settings or the app’s security/password-management section.
  4. Select Manage MPIN, Change MPIN, Manage Passwords, or the equivalent label shown in your version.
  5. Enter the existing MPIN if requested.
  6. Enter a new six-digit numeric MPIN, then enter it again to confirm.
  7. Submit the change and wait for the success message.
  8. Close and reopen YONO SBI, then test the new MPIN.

SBI confirms the change feature, but its published pages do not provide one screen-by-screen path that is universal across every Android and iPhone build. Do not assume that a path such as “Profile → Security” will appear on every device; look for the current wording in the security or password-management area.

How to reset a forgotten YONO MPIN

When Internet Banking login is available

  1. Open YONO SBI and choose the alternative login option, such as Login with Internet Banking credentials, if it is displayed.
  2. Sign in with your SBI Internet Banking credentials.
  3. Open Settings or the security/password-management section.
  4. Choose Manage MPIN, Reset MPIN or the equivalent option.
  5. Complete any OTP, device or identity verification SBI requests, then create and confirm a new six-digit MPIN.

The exact forgotten-MPIN screen and verification sequence may differ by app version. SBI confirms the alternative Internet Banking login, but does not publish a universal “Forgot MPIN” screen or guarantee that an OTP is the only verification step (SBI YONO registration FAQ).

When neither login method works

Use SBI’s official customer-care route and follow any instructions for account or branch verification:

  • PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts

Never use a third-party “MPIN reset” website or a phone number from an unsolicited message. SBI says it does not ask customers for PINs, OTPs, passwords, card details or CVV by phone, text or email (SBI digital and ATM safety guidance; YONO SBI security warning).

If “Change MPIN” is missing

  • Check the app: Confirm that you are in YONO SBI, not YONO Lite or SBI Card.
  • Check your login state: The setting may be available only after you sign in.
  • Try alternate labels: Look for Manage MPIN or Manage Passwords in Settings or Security.
  • Update safely: Install updates only from the official Apple App Store or Google Play listing reached through SBI’s official channels.
  • Check registration: An incomplete registration or temporary service problem can hide account-management options.
  • Use the built-in help: If the option remains absent, contact SBI through the official links above rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app.

Common problems and practical fixes

The current MPIN is rejected

Make sure you are entering the YONO login MPIN, not your UPI PIN or ATM PIN. Avoid repeated guesses, which can trigger a temporary lock or additional verification. Use the alternative-login or reset route instead.

An OTP does not arrive

  • Check that the registered mobile number is active and has network service.
  • On a dual-SIM phone, confirm that the registered SIM is enabled.
  • Wait before requesting another OTP; multiple requests can create delays.
  • Never read an OTP to a caller or alleged support agent.

YONO stops working after phone security was disabled

SBI says YONO checks for device-level security. Re-enable the phone’s passcode, pattern or biometric lock, restart the device and try again. If access is still blocked, use official support instead of sharing credentials or repeatedly reinstalling the app.

You changed your phone or SIM

Changing the MPIN alone does not complete device migration. YONO may require device re-registration or mobile verification under its current security checks. Follow the in-app instructions or ask SBI support for the current process. An older SBI mobile-banking manual describes legacy registration and should not be treated as the current YONO interface (legacy SBI FAQ).
