Eloelo announced a $2.1 million pre-Series A round on July 27, 2021, co-led by WaterBridge Ventures and Lumikai Fund, with Better Capital and Exceed Entertainment also participating. The Bengaluru startup said it would use the funding to deepen creator partnerships and add live-game and event formats. This is a historical funding announcement, not a new 2026 round.
What Eloelo announced
The financing was a pre-Series A round. Contemporary coverage reported WaterBridge Ventures and Lumikai Fund as co-leads, alongside Better Capital and talent-management firm Exceed Entertainment. The announcement did not disclose the company’s valuation, the investment instrument, investor ownership stakes, or dilution.
GamesBeat, The Economic Times, and Mint reported the round on July 27, 2021.
What the platform did
Eloelo was not simply a studio making conventional mobile games. Its early proposition combined livestreaming, creator-hosted entertainment, chat, and games in which fans could participate together. Creators hosted familiar formats such as tambola, antakshari, chidiya udd, musical chairs, quizzes, and live events for their communities.

The premise was to make viewers participants rather than passive watchers: fans could interact during a stream and join the activity. Kalaari Capital’s portfolio description also lists live video, chat, virtual gifting, leaderboards, augmented-reality filters, and effects.
Founders and early timeline
GamesBeat reported that Saurabh Pandey and Akshay Dubey founded Eloelo in August 2020. The beta launched in September 2020, followed by the core product in January 2021. Pandey said the idea drew partly on television game-show hosts and the social games families play together.
Traction Eloelo reported at the time
The company described early scale in terms of users, game activity, and time spent. These were company-reported figures, not independently audited metrics:
- More than 1 million users.
- More than 100 million game events; this does not mean 100 million distinct users or completed games.
- A 15-fold increase in users over the preceding six months.
- A user base that was more than 50% female.
- Approximately 30–35 minutes per day spent on live games and streams, according to a founder statement reported by The Economic Times.
The figures indicate the engagement story Eloelo presented to investors, but they do not establish retention, revenue, profitability, or how much creators earned. The funding coverage did not publish those measures.

How Eloelo planned to use the money
The company said it intended to strengthen creator tie-ups, launch multiple creator-led live games, and introduce new event formats. It also framed growth toward its next 10 million users as an objective. That was a target, not an achieved milestone. YourStory and Mint reported the planned expansion.
The creator-economy thesis—and what remained unproven
Eloelo’s pitch addressed a practical challenge for creators: social posts and videos can attract attention without giving fans many ways to interact or support a creator directly. Live games offered a repeatable occasion for participation and community-building. Familiar Indian formats could also make it easier for viewers to understand how to join than an unfamiliar game mechanic.

Those features suggested possible commercial routes, including virtual gifting, sponsored events, or paid experiences, but the 2021 funding reports did not disclose Eloelo’s revenue model, pricing, creator payout terms, or monetization results. A creator-led format does not, by itself, establish that creators owned their audiences or received a particular share of revenue.
Investors were backing a thesis, not a demonstrated set of unit economics. The investor commentary emphasized the creator economy, live video, and opportunities for women creators and influencers. Lumikai’s view that women creators were an under-served opportunity should be understood as an investor thesis, not an independently measured market finding.

Risks behind the model
- Reliance on hosts: Engagement may depend on attracting and retaining creators who can regularly bring audiences to live sessions.
- Live-content operations: Video and chat require moderation and incident response for harassment, scams, impersonation, inappropriate material, and child-safety concerns.
- Activity is not retention: A high count of game events does not show whether users returned over time, paid, or remained active without particular creators.
- Competition and imitation: Livestreaming and social platforms can reproduce simple game formats, making distribution, community quality, and execution important.
- Localization costs: India’s linguistic and regional diversity can support different creator communities, while also increasing content, support, and moderation complexity.
- Monetization trade-offs: Paid events or gifting can create revenue opportunities but may make participation less accessible or raise trust and compliance questions.
How to read Eloelo’s later company profile
The 2021 announcement describes Eloelo’s early social-gaming strategy; it should not be treated as a complete account of the company today. Eloelo’s current website presents Elo TV and short-drama content and claims more than $50 million raised across entertainment, consumer technology, and gaming. WaterBridge’s company case study describes a later $13.5 million Series B, while Eloelo’s LinkedIn page lists total funding of $38 million.

Those later public figures do not match, and the cited pages do not reconcile their dates, entities, or counting methods. They should not be combined into a definitive cumulative total without further confirmation. None changes the historical fact that the $2.1 million pre-Series A round was announced in July 2021.
