On July 24, 2024, Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) announced Movement Labs as the official conference partner for KBW2024: IMPACT, its two-day flagship conference held September 3–4, 2024, at Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts in Seoul. The wider KBW festival ran from September 1–7 and included more than 300 side events, according to the organizers’ announcement.

The announcement was a syndicated press release, so its attendance, speaker and program figures are best treated as organizer projections rather than independently verified results.

What the Movement Labs partnership covered

“Official conference partner” referred to the IMPACT conference. It did not mean Movement Labs owned or produced all of Korea Blockchain Week, nor that it was the event’s sole sponsor. FACTBLOCK founded and organized KBW, with Hashed identified as co-host.

KBW element Details announced in July 2024
Festival September 1–7, 2024, across Seoul
Flagship conference KBW2024: IMPACT, September 3–4, 2024
Venue Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts, Seoul, South Korea
Projected IMPACT scale More than 10,000 attendees, approximately 100 sessions and about 250 speakers
Side events More than 300 across the festival week

Movement Labs was also listed among organizations hosting side events. The partnership therefore gave the project visibility within the main conference and the broader week, but the release did not disclose specific commercial terms or sponsor benefits.

Who Movement Labs was in the announcement

The release described Movement Labs as developing an Ethereum Layer 2 intended to bring the Move Virtual Machine into the Ethereum ecosystem. It characterized the network as secure, high-performance and scalable; those are the company’s or organizers’ promotional descriptions, not independently verified performance measurements in the announcement.

Rushi Manche, identified as Movement Labs’ co-founder and CEO, said Korea was an important Web3 market. A reasonable interpretation is that the partnership supported the project’s Asia-facing developer, investor and ecosystem outreach. That is an inference from the partnership and side-event listings, not a reported business outcome.

Newly announced speakers

The July 24 release added the following names to the program:

  • Adeniyi Abiodun — Mysten Labs
  • Alexandre Dreyfus — Chiliz
  • Justin Sun — TRON
  • Luca Schnetzler — Pudgy Penguins
  • Ran Hammer — ORBS
  • Robbie Ferguson — Immutable
  • Rune Christensen — MakerDAO
  • Rushi Manche — Movement Labs
  • Sehyeon Oh — SK Telecom
  • Smokey The Bera — Berachain
  • Sean (Xiang) Ren — Sahara AI
  • SY Lee — Story Protocol
  • Yoann Turpin — Wintermute

The previously announced headline lineup included Vitalik Buterin, appearing virtually, along with Arthur Hayes, Brad Garlinghouse, Richard Teng, Mike Belshe, Nathan Allman and Yat Siu. The original copy misspelled Brad Garlinghouse’s first name as “Brand”; the corrected spelling is used here.

“Newly announced” means newly named in that press release. It does not establish that every listed person ultimately appeared, nor does the release provide session times, titles or attendance confirmations.

Sponsors by announced tier

The release separated sponsors into existing title sponsors, newly added title sponsors and gold sponsors:

Rank #4
Sale
Category Organizations named
Existing title sponsors Aptos Foundation; TRON
New title sponsors TON; Chiliz; Data Ownership Protocol (DOP); Creditcoin; Sahara AI; Presto
Gold sponsors ORBS; Flare Network; Ripple

These tiers should not be read as identical sponsorship packages, endorsements or evidence that every company supported every part of the week. The announcement did not specify the benefits or exact program scope attached to each listing.

Agenda themes advertised for IMPACT

The organizers said the program would examine:

  • Artificial intelligence and blockchain
  • DeFi’s revival
  • Restaking
  • Real-world-asset tokenization
  • Asia-driven growth and adoption
  • Finance and deep technology
  • Web2/Web3 convergence

These were advertised discussion areas, not evidence that the conference reached particular conclusions or produced measurable market outcomes.

Who runs Korea Blockchain Week?

The 2024 release identified FACTBLOCK as KBW’s founder and organizer and Hashed as co-host. KBW has been presented as an annual Seoul blockchain and Web3 festival since 2018. The current official site also identifies FACTBLOCK as the event’s owner and producer: koreablockchainweek.com/about. Its Korean-language about page retains retrospective references to KBW2024: koreablockchainweek.com/ko/about.

What the announcement does—and does not—prove

The available announcement text is internally consistent across syndicated copies, including TechBullion and Crypto Reporter. Both carry substantially the same press-release wording. As a result, it supports statements about what KBW and Movement Labs announced, but not independent claims that:

  • More than 10,000 people actually attended;
  • All approximately 250 listed speakers appeared;
  • All 100 planned sessions took place;
  • More than 300 side events occurred as projected; or
  • The partnership generated adoption, investment or other business results.

No session-level reporting, complete recordings or independently verified post-event assessment is established by those sources.

Current identity note for researchers

Readers following older links should distinguish the 2024 crypto infrastructure project from the organization now presented at movementlabs.com, which describes a U.S. civic and electoral organization. Historical Movement blockchain materials used the movementlabs.xyz domain and discussed the Move/Ethereum Layer 2 project. The domains should not be treated as interchangeable.

The Bottom Line

The July 24, 2024 announcement positioned Movement Labs prominently inside KBW2024: IMPACT, while adding a broad speaker and sponsor roster. It is reliable evidence of the organizers’ planned partnership and program—not proof of final attendance, speaker participation or commercial success.
