Quantum Coin’s Android wallet was first announced as a beta in October 2024, alongside the project’s change of name from Doge Protocol. The project’s roadmap now marks the Android wallet complete in June 2026, and its current documentation describes a blockchain using a hybrid of classical and post-quantum cryptography. Those are project-reported milestones—not independent proof that the wallet or network is secure. The wallet is described as managed by a third party, and the available documentation does not establish an independent security audit or verification of its Android download.

What happened in the 2024 announcement?

On October 24–25, 2024, Quantum Coin announced that Doge Protocol had been renamed Quantum Coin, that the community would use the name Quantum Coin Community, and that a beta Android wallet was available for Testnet T4 and Mainnet. The announcement presented the rebrand as reflecting a shift toward quantum-resistant infrastructure. The coverage was syndicated press-release material: it documents what the project announced, not independent validation of the claims. TechAnnouncer’s announcement and the VentureWorld version report the milestone.

The project’s current documentation uses Quantum Coin as the project and network name and Q as its ticker. Its allocation whitepaper says the Doge Protocol token launched on Ethereum on September 1, 2021. A rename alone does not establish that a new legal entity was formed, that a new blockchain replaced the old one, or that a token migration or ownership change occurred. The documentation does not independently settle those questions. The allocation whitepaper provides the project’s account of the token history.

How the project’s timeline has moved on

The 2024 wallet launch should be read as a historical beta announcement. The project’s current roadmap marks both the Android and iOS wallet apps complete in June 2026. Its wallet page also lists Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS options. A roadmap status is evidence of what the project reports as complete; it does not by itself establish independent testing, user adoption, or production security. The roadmap and wallet page are the current project references.

The project describes itself as a Layer-1 blockchain with smart-contract support. Its site also describes plans involving Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and DogeP allocation or “multi-fork” design, as well as EVM-compatible tooling. These are project design and vision claims; they do not mean Quantum Coin has secured those other networks or inherited their balances, users, or security. The project overview and allocation whitepaper describe that positioning.

What “post-quantum cryptography” means here

Quantum Coin says it uses a hybrid cryptographic design combining Ed25519, a classical signature algorithm, with post-quantum algorithms. The project identifies ML-DSA under FIPS 204 and SLH-DSA under FIPS 205 for digital signatures, and ML-KEM under FIPS 203 for key establishment in node-to-node communication. Its materials describe SLH-DSA as a backup or “break-glass” signature mechanism. The project’s whitepaper index and quantum-resistance page explain its stated design.

  • Trusted by 6 million users worldwide (4.9 App Store, 4.8 Google Play) - buy, sell, swap, stake, and spend cryptocurrency directly. The secure offline storage wallet designed for how people actually use crypto wallets
  • Digital signatures help establish that a transaction or message was authorized by the holder of a private key.
  • Key establishment allows communicating nodes to agree on cryptographic keys; ML-KEM is not itself a transaction-signature algorithm.
  • Hybrid mode means the project says it combines classical and post-quantum components rather than relying only on a traditional elliptic-curve signature.

NIST standardization refers to the algorithms, not to a certification or endorsement of Quantum Coin, its code, wallet, or network. Choosing standardized algorithms is only one part of security. Correct implementation, protocol design, software updates, key storage, and the user’s device all matter. Larger keys or signatures and more complicated implementation can also add engineering, bandwidth, storage, and interoperability burdens.

Post-quantum cryptography is intended to address anticipated attacks by sufficiently capable quantum computers on some public-key systems. It does not protect a user from phishing, malware, a compromised phone, stolen seed words, malicious app updates, wallet or blockchain bugs, or failures in centralized infrastructure. A wallet can use strong cryptographic algorithms and still expose funds through a vulnerable application or unsafe signing process.

What the Android wallet page says is available

The official wallet page lists mobile apps for Android and iOS and desktop wallets for Windows and macOS. It says the mobile apps are managed by a third party. It links to Google Play and also lists a direct APK named QuantumCoin-wallet-1.1-debug.apk. The filename alone does not prove that a file is malicious, but it is a reason to seek stronger provenance before installing a wallet that will handle funds.

  • Before installing, check that the app listing is linked from the project’s official wallet page and review the Google Play publisher identity, update history, and release notes.
  • For a direct APK, look for a published checksum and a clear method to verify the signing certificate. The available documentation does not establish that those checks are published or that the APK can be matched to public source code.
  • Do not install a wallet from an unsolicited message, social-media link, or unaffiliated download mirror. Prefer the project-linked store listing if you decide to proceed.
  • Do not disable antivirus or other device protections just to force an installation. The project’s warning that some Avast versions may flag its desktop wallet is not proof either that a file is safe or that a detection is false.

The documentation describes the wallets as tools to hold and transfer Q and tokens. It does not establish Android support for hardware wallets, biometrics, multisignature accounts, WalletConnect, automatic cloud backup, offline signing, recovery compatibility with other wallets, arbitrary Ethereum assets, or full smart-contract interaction. Do not assume those features are available without confirming them in the current app documentation.

The wallet page lists iOS 15 or later, Windows 11 as the tested Windows version, and an Apple M1 or later Mac as the tested macOS configuration; it says Linux has not been tested. The project also points to a CLI wallet, but describes it as beta software. The wallet page gives the platform notes, while the CLI instructions describe the command-line option. These details do not make the CLI a simple fallback for someone unfamiliar with command-line tools.

How to reduce the risk before using it

  1. Start at the official wallet page. Use quantumcoin.org/desktop-wallet.html to reach the listed Android option rather than relying on a search advertisement or third-party download site. Confirm the app publisher and current listing details before proceeding.
  2. Check the app’s provenance. Look for a verifiable signature, checksum, source-code correspondence, and independent audit information. If these are not available, you cannot independently authenticate the APK using the documentation at hand; weigh that uncertainty before putting funds in the wallet.
  3. Secure the recovery words before funding. The project advises keeping multiple seed-phrase copies offline, such as on paper or another secure offline medium, and storing them in more than one location. Never share seed words with support staff or enter them on a website or into an unfamiliar app. The project warns that losing the words may mean permanent loss of access. Its wallet guidance does not demonstrate a central recovery mechanism.
  4. Confirm the network and asset. Check whether you are using Mainnet or Testnet and whether the asset is Q or a supported token. Confirm the recipient address and fee details before signing. Do not assume the app supports every token or contract on another network.
  5. Test cautiously and verify the result. If you choose to transfer funds, consider a small test transfer first. Check the transaction using the project’s official block explorer reference and confirm the destination and network before sending a larger amount. Transfers may be irreversible; a test does not eliminate all risk.
  6. Keep recoverable backups across updates. The project advises backing up wallet files before upgrades and keeping backups in multiple locations. It also suggests a desktop wallet and offline transaction signing for cold-wallet use; those workflows require technical care and are not equivalent to independently validated hardware-wallet protection.

The project says users may alternatively use the desktop or CLI wallet. Its documentation describes some antivirus detections for the desktop wallet as potentially incorrect, but users should not casually create antivirus exclusions: verify the download through trustworthy means first, and do not treat a clean scan as proof of safety.

What is established—and what remains unverified

The project’s own materials and syndicated announcement support a careful account of the name change, beta announcement, listed wallet platforms, stated cryptographic architecture, and roadmap status. They do not independently establish that the mobile app has passed a security audit, that its distributed binary matches reviewed source code, or that its publisher, signing process, and update chain have been independently verified.

The available sources also do not establish wallet download counts, broad adoption, exchange liquidity, code-review results, or the maturity and decentralization of the validator set. The project’s site says its plans are aspirational and carry no guarantee of delivery. Its disclaimer says the project is not intended as an investment opportunity or security; that is the project’s own description, not an independent legal determination. These limits matter to anyone weighing use, staking, or financial exposure. The project site includes its disclaimer and current claims.

Consensus claims have changed in emphasis

The 2024 announcement described proof of stake and mentioned a possible future move toward a hybrid proof-of-work model when clean-energy solutions became more accessible. Current project documentation instead describes proof of stake with deposit-weighted Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus, immediate deterministic finality, a committee of up to 128 validators, and a stated fault-tolerance threshold below one-third of the committee’s effective deposit. The newer documentation does not establish that the proposed hybrid proof-of-work transition has occurred; it should not be treated as a current feature. The consensus whitepaper and project overview describe the current model.

Project designs are not inherited security

The project’s references to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, DogeP, or EVM-compatible tooling do not establish protection for those networks or assets. Likewise, a stated allocation or multi-fork architecture is not evidence that external chains have adopted Quantum Coin or that their market value transfers to Q. Treat each item as a project claim or design description unless the relevant implementation and independent evidence are available.

Bottom line

Quantum Coin’s rebrand and Android-wallet announcement are genuine project-reported milestones, and the project documents a hybrid post-quantum design using named NIST-standardized algorithms. The 2024 Android release was described as beta; the current roadmap marks it complete in June 2026. Neither the cryptographic terminology nor that roadmap status proves that the Android wallet is independently audited or safe for funds. If considering it, verify the app’s publisher and download integrity, protect recovery words offline, confirm the network and asset before signing, and treat the project’s financial and technical claims as claims rather than independent guarantees.
