Amazon Subscribe & Save automatically sends eligible household, personal-care, pet, grocery, and office products on a schedule you choose. It can lower the price of some recurring orders, but the discount and item price are not locked in. Review each upcoming delivery, then skip, reschedule, edit, or cancel it before Amazon’s displayed update deadline.
This guide applies to consumer purchases on Amazon.com in the United States. Amazon’s labels and menu paths can vary by account, device, app version, and interface update.

What Amazon Subscribe & Save is
Subscribe & Save is an automatic replenishment program for eligible Amazon products. You select the quantity and delivery schedule, and Amazon creates future orders until you change or cancel the subscription. Amazon says available schedules can range from weekly to every six months, although the choices depend on the product and account.
There is no separate Subscribe & Save program fee. That does not mean the product, taxes, or other order charges are free. Subscribe & Save is also separate from Prime membership; do not assume Prime is required unless your particular checkout says otherwise.
#1 Best Overall
- Amazon.com Gift Cards never expire and carry no fees.
- Multiple gift card designs and denominations to choose from.
- Redeemable towards millions of items store-wide at Amazon.com or certain affiliated websites.
- Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.
- No returns and no refunds on Gift Cards.
Common eligible products include toilet paper, paper towels, laundry and cleaning supplies, toothpaste, shampoo, pet food and litter, coffee, pantry staples, vitamins, printer paper, and other replenishable goods. Not every product qualifies, and eligible products can have different discounts.
Amazon’s consumer overview is available at About Amazon.
How the discount works
The price shown for a subscription may combine several different savings:
- A regular Subscribe & Save discount on the item.
- A coupon or promotion that may apply only to the first delivery or for a limited time.
- A higher discount that may apply when five or more eligible subscriptions or items are scheduled in the same auto-delivery grouping.
Amazon advertises savings of up to 15%, not a guaranteed 15% discount on every subscription. The discount displayed at checkout or in your subscription manager is the controlling figure.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Amazon can change the product’s underlying price, taxes, eligibility, and applicable discount before a later delivery. For example, if an item rises from $20 to $24, a 15% discount on the later price still costs more than a 15% discount on the original price. A subscription percentage is therefore not a price guarantee.
Compare the final price per unit, not just the percentage. Use this calculation:

Do not add unnecessary subscriptions merely to reach a higher tier. A larger percentage discount on products you did not need is not a saving.
How to find eligible products
- Search Amazon for the product you want and open its product page.
- Look for the Subscribe & Save purchase option near the buying controls.
- Alternatively, browse Amazon’s Subscribe & Save shopping area and use the available Subscribe & Save filter or search controls.
Eligibility can change when the listing, seller, size, or inventory changes. Check the exact variation you intend to buy.
How to start a subscription
- Sign in to Amazon.com and open an eligible product page.
- Select Subscribe & Save instead of One-time purchase.
- Choose the quantity.
- Choose an available delivery frequency.
- Review the first-delivery date, item price, discount, coupon, shipping details, taxes, payment method, and delivery address.
- Use the control to create or place the subscription order.
Before confirming, distinguish the first-delivery price from the price of later deliveries. A coupon shown on the first order may not recur. Also distinguish the selected interval—such as every two months—from the actual upcoming delivery date shown in your account.
How to manage an existing subscription
Open Amazon’s subscription manager using a menu item such as Account & Lists or Your Account, then choose Subscribe & Save, Your Subscribe & Save Items, or Manage Your Subscriptions. The exact label may differ.
| Goal | Action |
|---|---|
| Delay one shipment | Skip the next delivery. |
| Stop future shipments | Cancel the individual subscription. |
| Receive it less often | Increase the delivery interval. |
| Receive it more often | Shorten the delivery interval. |
| Change how much arrives | Edit the quantity. |
| Use a different date | Change the delivery day or upcoming date if offered. |
| Check the next charge | Review the upcoming delivery and reminder email. |
| Change billing or delivery details | Update the payment method or address when the account provides that control. |
Check which delivery grouping and address the item belongs to. Five qualifying items on different delivery dates may not receive the same treatment as five eligible items in one auto-delivery.

How to skip one delivery without canceling
Skipping removes the selected upcoming shipment while leaving the subscription active. It is different from canceling, which stops future recurring orders.
- Open Manage Your Subscriptions.
- Find the product under upcoming deliveries or active subscriptions.
- Open the item’s edit or management control.
- Choose Skip, or the equivalent option for the next delivery.
- Confirm the change.
- Recheck the next scheduled date.
Some regional Amazon interfaces use wording such as “Skip all.” That option is documented for Amazon’s U.K. interface and should not be assumed to appear on every U.S. account.
How to cancel a subscription
- Sign in to Amazon.
- Open Account & Lists or Your Account.
- Open Subscribe & Save, Your Subscribe & Save Items, or Manage Your Subscriptions.
- Select the specific product.
- Choose Edit, Manage subscription, or the equivalent control.
- Scroll through the management dialog if needed.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- Choose a reason if Amazon asks, then confirm.
- Verify that the item is no longer active and check Your Orders.
Canceling the subscription does not necessarily cancel an order Amazon has already created or begun shipping. Handle that order separately in Your Orders, subject to its cancellation and return options.
Amazon’s account may show a last day to update this order for an upcoming shipment. Amazon customer-forum guidance directs customers to make changes before that displayed deadline. Treat the date shown in your own account as the practical cutoff.

What to do when the price changes
Amazon says it sends a reminder before each delivery showing the product, price, and applicable discount. Use that reminder and the upcoming-delivery page as your checkpoint. Amazon does not guarantee that the original price or promotion will continue.
If the new price is unacceptable:
- Open the upcoming delivery before the displayed update deadline.
- Check the item’s current price, size, quantity, tax, coupon status, and discount tier.
- Compare the final unit price with a one-time Amazon purchase and other retailers.
- Skip, reschedule, edit, or cancel the subscription as appropriate.
A price increase can result from the item’s underlying price changing, a coupon expiring, a different seller or variation being used, loss of eligibility for a higher tier, or taxes changing.

If the item is unavailable
An unavailable product may be delayed, temporarily omitted, or shown without a normal price. You may need to select an alternative item or place a one-time order if you need the product immediately. Do not assume that a replacement will be sent automatically.
Amazon Business promotes a backup-option feature for some business subscriptions. That is a business-account feature and should not be treated as standard for every consumer subscription.

The cancellation button is difficult to find
Open the individual item rather than trying to cancel from a general list, then scroll through the full edit or management panel. Amazon may place cancellation below the delivery and quantity controls.
The subscription looks canceled, but a package is still coming
Check Your Orders. The recurring subscription may be canceled while an already-created order remains active.
The subscription is missing
Confirm that you are signed in to the correct Amazon account and profile. Then check active subscriptions, upcoming deliveries, delivery groupings, and the relevant address. Also confirm that the original purchase was a subscription rather than a one-time order. Listing, seller, eligibility, inventory, and app-versus-website differences can affect what appears.
The charge is higher than expected
Check the current item price, package size, quantity, coupon expiration, discount tier, tax, and whether the order is the first delivery or a later one. If the account does not provide the expected control, contact Amazon Customer Service and keep the upcoming-order deadline in mind.

The product arrives too often
Increase the delivery interval or skip the next delivery. Cancel only if you want to stop future orders entirely.
The product arrives too slowly
Shorten the interval or change the upcoming date if Amazon offers that option. For an immediate need, place a one-time order instead of waiting for the scheduled shipment.
Is Subscribe & Save worth it?
Subscribe when your consumption is predictable, the product is shelf-stable, storage is available, and the current final unit price is competitive. It is especially useful for household basics, pet supplies, and other goods you reliably use.
A one-time purchase is usually safer when the item is perishable, used irregularly, highly price-volatile, bulky, bought mainly because of a temporary coupon, or still being tested. Also buy one time when you may soon switch brands, sizes, or products.

Consumer Subscribe & Save versus Amazon Business
Amazon Business Subscribe & Save is intended for offices and other business purchasing. Amazon Business separately advertises recurring workplace supplies, reminders, savings of up to 15% on qualifying orders or items, and backup options for some unavailable products. Business accounts and terms should not be mixed with consumer Amazon.com instructions. See Amazon Business’s overview for that variation.
Quick Recap
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
