Archived deal guide: April 2026 is over, so the prices below are documented April offers—not guaranteed prices today. The strongest widely documented value was the standard AirPods 4 at about $99, down from $129. AirPods 4 with ANC at roughly $149 and AirPods Pro 3 at about $199 were the most compelling upgrades.
This guide separates observed retailer prices from reasonable buy thresholds and distinguishes new, refurbished, incomplete, and older products.
Quick picks
| Model | April price seen | Apple list price | Best for | Verdict | Condition and timing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AirPods 4 | About $99 | $129 | Open-fit listening and the lowest price | Buy around $99 or below | New; reported at Amazon and Walmart in late April |
| AirPods 4 with ANC | About $149; roughly $139–$159 was good | $179 | ANC without silicone tips | Buy around $149; excellent below $140 | New; retailer snapshots, not a month-long guarantee |
| AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C | $179–$199 | $249 | Sealed fit and mature premium features | Buy around $179 | Confirm USB-C and whether the listing is new |
| AirPods Pro 3 | About $199 in late-April coverage | $249 | The newest premium in-ear generation | Buy around $199 | New retailer price snapshot |
| AirPods Max with USB-C | $449–$499 | $549 | Over-ear listening | Buy around $449; $499 is acceptable | Confirm USB-C, condition, warranty, and seller |
The April ranges come from April deal guidance, a late-April Amazon, Walmart, and Apple comparison, and additional deal coverage from TechRadar. A single late-April observation should not be treated as proof that a price lasted throughout April or was an all-time low.
Best overall deal: AirPods 4 at about $99
At approximately $99, AirPods 4 were about $30 below their cited $129 list price—roughly a 23% discount. That was the clearest budget buy among current-generation AirPods in the documented April coverage.

Choose them if you dislike silicone ear tips, want an open fit, or mainly need convenient earbuds for music, calls, podcasts, and Apple-device use. Their open design can feel less intrusive than AirPods Pro.
The compromise is significant: the standard model has no active noise cancellation. An open fit also provides less passive isolation and generally weaker noise reduction than sealed in-ear AirPods Pro. Do not buy AirPods 4 simply because the percentage discount looks attractive if you regularly commute, fly, or work in loud environments.
Best ANC value without silicone tips: AirPods 4 with ANC at about $149
The ANC version was seen around $149 against a $179 list price, with approximately $139–$159 considered a good April range. That made it a credible upgrade for buyers who wanted noise cancellation but did not tolerate in-ear tips.
It is not simply a cheaper AirPods Pro. The open-fit physical design affects isolation, fit, and how effective noise cancellation feels in practice. AirPods Pro use a sealed in-ear design and are the better match for readers who want stronger passive isolation.

At $149, compare the exact price of AirPods Pro 2 and Pro 3 before checking out. If a Pro model is only slightly more expensive, its sealed fit and premium feature set may justify the difference. Verify the exact case and charging features on the listing rather than assuming every AirPods 4 ANC package is identical.

Best premium earbud deal: AirPods Pro 3 at about $199
Late-April retailer comparison coverage listed AirPods Pro 3 at about $199 versus a $249 list price, an approximate 20% discount. That was the strongest premium-earbud value when available, although it was a retailer snapshot rather than a verified price history for the entire month.
Pro 3 made the most sense for shoppers who wanted Apple’s newest premium in-ear generation and expected to keep the earbuds for several years. Newer-generation status can matter for future software support and product longevity, especially when the price is only modestly higher than Pro 2.
Coverage in 2026 discussed advanced features such as health-related sensing and live translation. Their availability can depend on the iPhone or other Apple device, operating-system version, language, region, and—in some cases—additional service requirements. Check Apple’s current product and compatibility documentation before treating any particular feature as a reason to buy.
Because Pro 3 was also cited at its $249 list price, $199 was much more compelling than $229–$249. At the higher price, the decision depends more on the feature and generation differences than on the discount label.
AirPods Pro 2: worthwhile only with a real gap below Pro 3
USB-C AirPods Pro 2 were guided at approximately $179–$199 during April. They remained a sensible choice for buyers who wanted an established premium model, sealed in-ear fit, active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and Apple integration.

- Compatible Models: Designed for AirPods 4th Generation and AirPods 5 Charging Case (USB-C). Please note: Case only;
- Front LED Visible & Precise Cutout: The precise front cutout keeps the charging status LED clearly visible without removing the protective case. Custom-fit design ensures easy access and a secure fit.
- Integrated Dustproof Design: One-piece protective design keeps the case securely in place and prevents the cover from accidentally falling off. The bottom dustproof plug helps keep the USB-C charging port clean.
- 360° Full-Body Protection: Air-Guard reinforced corners help resist shocks and scratches, providing all-around protection for your charging case against everyday drops, bumps, and wear.
- What You Get: 1 × silicone protective case and 1 × keychain carabiner. The case is lightweight, soft, and easy to carry. (AirPods and charging case are not included.)
The key rule is simple: buy Pro 2 when it is meaningfully cheaper than Pro 3. Around $179, the savings can justify choosing the older generation. At $199, reassess if Pro 3 is also $199. Paying nearly the same amount for the older model is difficult to justify unless you specifically prefer its available configuration or find a materially better warranty.
Check that the charging case is USB-C. “AirPods Pro 2” alone does not identify the connector. Older Lightning stock can appear in otherwise vague listings, and refurbished listings may have uncertain battery health or incomplete accessories.

USB-C AirPods Max were a reasonable April buy around $449–$499 against a $549 list price. The lower end represented about an 18% discount.
Choose Max if you specifically want over-ear headphones, large ear cups, Apple ecosystem features, and a spacious listening presentation. They are not the right bargain for everyone: they are heavier and less portable than earbuds, and testing coverage cited 20 hours of battery life with ANC enabled, below the roughly 30-hour claims common among some competing over-ear headphones.
Water resistance was not specified in the cited testing coverage, so do not treat AirPods Max as an exercise or wet-weather purchase. Confirm whether a listing is the USB-C generation or an older Lightning model.

- 360° All Round Protection: The shockproof Airpods cases are made of premium silicone material offers which is skin-friendly and harmless, It feels extremely silky in your hands and full protection from scratches, accidental drops, shocks and bumps without adding any bulk
Refurbished or older Max models can cost less, but the saving must be weighed against battery wear, connector age, warranty length, return terms, and seller reliability. A cheaper product is not equivalent to a new USB-C set.
What about older AirPods 2 and AirPods 3?
Older AirPods 2 and 3 were no longer central to Apple’s lineup. Prices around $69–$129 may look appealing, but these models are usually poor buys unless the discount is substantial and the product comes from a trusted seller with a clear warranty and return policy.
Do not compare their apparent percentage discount directly with a current model. Discontinued stock, reduced battery life, old charging connectors, and limited remaining product life can erase the savings.
Apple’s Earth Day promotion was not a general coupon
Apple generally maintained full list pricing in the cited April retailer comparison. Its documented U.S. alternative was an Earth Day promotion offering 10% off eligible accessories, including qualifying AirPods products, from April 16 through May 16, 2026.
The offer required customers to recycle an eligible device at a participating physical Apple Store and buy an eligible new accessory in the same transaction. It excluded online orders, Apple pickup, ship-to-home orders, refurbished products, and open-box products. Read the official promotion terms for the precise eligibility rules.

That means the promotion was useful for someone already planning an in-store recycling transaction, but it was not an online Apple coupon that every shopper could apply.

- Amazon: Late-April coverage reported approximately $99 AirPods 4 and $149 AirPods 4 with ANC. Check the product condition and the “sold by” seller, not just the Amazon page or shipping label. View Amazon’s AirPods search.
- Walmart: Walmart was also reported around $99 for AirPods 4 and $149 for the ANC model. Verify whether the item is sold directly by Walmart or by a marketplace seller, and check the return and warranty terms. View Walmart’s AirPods search.
- Best Buy: Its listings can mix new products, refurbished sets, older generations, and single replacement left or right earbuds. The retailer’s page demonstrated why the headline price is not enough. View Best Buy’s AirPods listings.
- Target: Check the exact model, condition, fulfillment method, and return terms at checkout. View Target’s AirPods search.
- Costco: Compare the total member price and the specific package, then confirm the applicable return and warranty terms. View Costco’s AirPods search.
- Apple: Apple is the simplest route for a new, authentic product and direct support, but the cited April coverage did not show a general AirPods price cut. View Apple’s AirPods lineup.
Retail prices at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Costco can change quickly, sell out, or vary by membership, seller, shipping, and tax. A retailer’s “was” or “comparable value” price is not automatically Apple’s official list price.
New versus refurbished: the price is not the whole deal
For most buyers, use this order of preference:
- New and sealed: Buy from Apple or a mainstream retailer with a clearly identified seller, warranty, and return window.
- Manufacturer refurbished: Consider it only when the manufacturer’s warranty and included accessories are explicit.
- Retailer refurbished: Buy only when the discount compensates for battery and authenticity risk, and the return policy is satisfactory.
- Used or marketplace: Treat as a separate, higher-risk category rather than as equivalent to new stock.
Best Buy’s search results illustrate a common trap: “refurbished AirPods” can refer to a complete retail package or a single replacement earbud. A title mentioning a “left replacement AirPod” or “right replacement AirPod” is not a complete pair.
How to spot a bad AirPods deal
- Confirm that the package includes both earbuds and the charging case.
- Check whether the item is new, open-box, renewed, refurbished, or used.
- Read the “sold by” and “shipped by” details.
- Confirm the generation and the case connector: USB-C versus Lightning.
- Check the warranty provider, warranty length, return period, and replacement policy.
- Ask how battery condition is handled for refurbished or used units.
- Compare the sale price with Apple’s list price, not only a retailer’s claimed “regular” price.
- Check that the listing is for a complete product rather than a replacement earbud or case.
- Be cautious of unusually low marketplace prices, counterfeit packaging, swapped earbuds, or a genuine case paired with nonmatching earbuds.
- After purchase, verify the model information and serial details through Apple’s support tools and retain the receipt. A valid-looking serial number alone is not proof that every component is genuine.
- Consider whether your iPhone, iPad, Mac, software version, region, and language support the Apple-specific features you expect.
Marketplace products are not automatically counterfeit, but counterfeit earbuds, swapped returns, incomplete regional packages, and misleading single-component listings make seller identity and return protection especially important.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose by fit before choosing by discount
| Fit | Relevant models | Choose it when… |
|---|---|---|
| Open fit | AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC | You dislike silicone tips or prefer less-sealed earbuds. |
| Sealed in-ear | AirPods Pro 2 and Pro 3 | You want stronger passive isolation and the best chance of effective ANC. |
| Over-ear | AirPods Max | You prefer ear cups and do not prioritize low weight or compact portability. |
AirPods are generally most compelling for iPhone, iPad, and Mac owners because of Apple ecosystem integration. Android users can use them as Bluetooth headphones, but some Apple-specific setup and integration features may not be available. Check Apple’s current compatibility information for the exact model and feature.
April 2026 buying thresholds
These are editorial target prices based on the documented April coverage—not live prices and not claims of all-time lows:
- AirPods 4: Buy around $99 or below.
- AirPods 4 with ANC: Buy around $149; excellent below $140.
- AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C: Buy around $179; reconsider at $199 if Pro 3 is also $199.
- AirPods Pro 3: Buy around $199.
- AirPods Max with USB-C: Buy around $449; $499 is acceptable if the desired color and condition are available.
Bottom line: The standard AirPods 4 at about $99 were April’s best broad value. Spend about $50 more for AirPods 4 with ANC only if you specifically want an open fit with noise cancellation. Choose Pro 3 near $199 for the newest premium in-ear option, or Pro 2 near $179 when the discount is genuinely large. For over-ear headphones, target USB-C AirPods Max around $449 and scrutinize any lower-priced refurbished or Lightning listing.
