The reports used slightly different wording—“50% off” in some cases and “up to 50% off” in others—so the safest interpretation is that the maximum saving applied to eligible plans or terms, not necessarily every Malwarebytes product or checkout route.
What the 2025 offer reportedly covered
BleepingComputer specifically reported discounts on one- and two-year subscriptions for Malwarebytes’ historical Standard, Plus, and Ultimate tiers. Other coverage described the promotion more generally as applying to premium Malwarebytes plans.

- Standard: Core device-security protection.
- Plus: Device security combined with VPN or privacy features.

These are historical plan names and descriptions. Malwarebytes’ packaging, device limits, included features, and availability can change between promotional periods. Its current product pages describe support across Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, but feature parity is not guaranteed across platforms or countries. Check the current product page before comparing a present-day plan with the 2025 offer.
Why “50% off” did not necessarily mean every customer saved the same amount
A headline discount can conceal important differences:
- Plan: The maximum reduction may have applied only to selected tiers.
- Term: One-year and two-year subscriptions may have had different effective prices.
- Region: Currency, taxes, eligibility, and local promotions can vary.
- Checkout route: Malwarebytes’ direct offer and a retailer license may not have matched.

Can you still claim the Black Friday 2025 discount?
No. Black Friday 2025 was November 28, followed by Cyber Monday on December 1. The deal was tied to that November–December shopping period and is historical as of August 18, 2026.

Old deal pages, coupon listings, and affiliate links may still display the 2025 headline. That does not prove the promotion remains active. Do not enter payment information on a site imitating Malwarebytes, and do not assume a copied coupon code works simply because it appears in a search result.

- Compare the current Standard, Plus, and Ultimate presentations rather than relying on 2025 plan descriptions.

Is Malwarebytes worth buying at 50% off?
It could have been a reasonable purchase if you specifically wanted Malwarebytes’ feature set, but a discount does not by itself make a plan good value. Judge the effective cost, not only the headline percentage.
It may make sense if you:
- Want Malwarebytes’ malware-focused protection and real-time threat blocking.
- Value protection marketed for phishing pages, scam websites, ransomware, malicious browser extensions, and infected downloads.
- Need coverage across several household devices or operating systems.
- Want a Malwarebytes interface or workflow you already understand.
- Need bundled VPN or identity-related features included in a higher tier.
Those capabilities are claims made by Malwarebytes and should not be read as proof that it is objectively better than every competing product. Independent testing, platform support, and the exact features in your plan matter.

It may not be good value if you:
- Only need a basic free antivirus layer.
- Already pay for a security suite that includes overlapping malware, web, VPN, or identity features.
- Need only one device but are considering a larger multi-device plan.
- Would not use the VPN or identity-protection benefits in a bundled tier.
- Are attracted mainly by the first-term discount but would not accept the renewal price.
Choose by household need, not by the biggest discount

Existing subscriptions
Do not assume a new purchase will automatically stack with, extend, or replace an existing subscription. The result can depend on the purchase path and license type. Malwarebytes’ subscription materials describe prorated calculations and new keys in some additional-seat or renewal situations, but that does not establish how every Black Friday purchase was handled.
Retailer licenses
A retailer’s lower price may come with different conditions. Verify whether it is a new license or renewal, which countries are supported, the activation deadline, device limit, renewal setting, refund responsibility, and whether support comes from Malwarebytes or the retailer.
Free download versus paid protection
Malwarebytes’ special-offers page says its free download includes a 14-day Premium trial. A trial is not the same as a continuing paid subscription: premium features may expire, while the remaining free functionality can differ by platform and current product policy.

Alternatives to consider
Malwarebytes is not the only option. The right comparison depends on whether you want free protection, conventional antivirus, configurable controls, multiple devices, a VPN, or identity features.
- Microsoft Defender is relevant for readers seeking built-in Windows security without another paid subscription.
- Bitdefender Antivirus is a paid alternative for readers prioritizing conventional antivirus protection and multi-device plans.
- Norton offers consumer security suites, with privacy or identity-oriented features depending on the plan.
- ESET may suit readers who prefer configurable traditional endpoint security.
- Sophos Home is another comparison candidate for households seeking centrally managed consumer protection.
