YouTube TV subscribers are not currently on the verge of losing Disney or ESPN. YouTube TV and Disney reached a new carriage agreement on November 14, 2025, restoring channels that had gone dark on October 30. The more relevant 2026 question is how and when YouTube TV will integrate ESPN Unlimited into its new sports-focused plans.
What happened to Disney and ESPN on YouTube TV?
Disney’s carriage agreement with YouTube TV expired on October 30, 2025. During the dispute, YouTube TV subscribers temporarily lost access to Disney-owned networks, including ABC, ESPN and several entertainment and news channels.
The blackout ended after more than two weeks, when the companies announced a new agreement on November 14, 2025. YouTube TV said the deal restored the affected Disney channels, although local ABC availability can depend on a subscriber’s market and affiliate rollout.
That means the old warning that YouTube TV “could lose Disney and ESPN soon” is now historical unless the companies announce a new dispute.

2025 blackout timeline
- October 30, 2025: The Disney-YouTube TV agreement expired and affected channels were removed.
- November 14, 2025: The companies reached a new agreement and restoration began.
- August 18, 2026: There is no verified imminent Disney or ESPN blackout. ESPN Unlimited’s planned YouTube TV rollout is the main current issue.
Which channels and programs were at risk?
The affected Disney-owned portfolio included channels such as:
- ABC, including local ABC affiliates
- ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN News and ESPN Deportes where included in a subscriber’s package
- Disney Channel and related Disney networks
- FX, FXX and FXM
- Freeform
- National Geographic channels
Depending on the subscriber’s plan and market, losing those networks could have meant losing college football, NBA, NHL and ESPN studio programming; NFL games carried by ESPN or ABC; ABC news and entertainment; local ABC news; and Disney, FX and National Geographic programs.
Not every YouTube TV customer receives every channel listed above. Availability depends on the subscription package, location and local affiliate. ABC is especially market-specific: a national agreement does not guarantee that every local ABC station is available in every designated market.

The separate 2026 ESPN Unlimited question
YouTube TV’s 2026 plan announcement is a product and packaging development—not evidence that Disney or ESPN is leaving.
YouTube TV announced a Sports Plan priced at $64.99 per month, with a cited introductory price of $54.99 per month for new users. The announcement says the plan includes major broadcast networks, FS1, NBC Sports Network and all ESPN networks, while listing ESPN Unlimited as “coming this fall.”
That wording does not establish a specific launch date or answer every access question. “ESPN Unlimited” could involve existing ESPN linear channels, access through the ESPN app, new direct-to-consumer ESPN programming, a separate entitlement or some combination of those products.
Do not assume that every existing YouTube TV subscriber automatically receives ESPN Unlimited. Before changing plans, check:

- When access begins
- Which content tier and events are covered
- Whether the feature works in the YouTube TV interface, the ESPN app or both
The official details are in YouTube TV’s plan announcement. Treat “fall 2026” as a planned window, not a firm launch date.
What does YouTube TV cost?
As displayed on August 18, 2026, YouTube TV’s main plan costs $82.99 per month. It includes up to six household accounts and unlimited cloud DVR. The service also offers 4K Plus as a separate paid add-on.
Prices can vary with promotions, taxes, add-ons and the billing platform used. Check the renewal price in your account before switching plans or canceling. The current lineup and signup information are available at YouTube TV’s official landing page.
Would YouTube TV become cheaper if Disney left?
There is no current verified price reduction to rely on. YouTube TV has reduced prices or offered credits during some past carriage disputes, including a historical $15 reduction during an earlier Disney dispute. That does not create an automatic policy for a future blackout.

If another dispute occurs, wait for a current official notice before assuming that your bill will fall or that a refund will be automatic. Credits can depend on the length of the interruption and the billing provider.

Consider Hulu + Live TV if:
- Disney+ and Hulu are important to your household.
- You prefer an integrated Disney streaming bundle.
- You accept that the service may cost more than a narrower sports package.
Hulu’s page captured for this article listed Hulu with ads + Live TV, Disney+ with ads and ESPN at $89.99 per month after a three-day trial. Verify the current price and bundle contents at Hulu’s official page before subscribing.
Consider Sling, Fubo or DIRECTV STREAM only after checking the exact lineup
Sling TV may suit viewers who want a lower-cost, modular service, but local ABC and ESPN combinations vary. Fubo can suit sports-heavy households, provided the specific market includes the required national and regional networks. DIRECTV STREAM may be appropriate for a traditional channel lineup or a particular sports network, but it is often less attractive to price-sensitive subscribers.
Do not switch solely because a service advertises ESPN. Confirm ABC, local channels, regional sports, DVR features, simultaneous streams and the network carrying the games or programs you actually watch.

Can you watch ESPN without YouTube TV?
Potential alternatives include a direct Disney or ESPN subscription, Hulu + Live TV, another live-TV distributor, an antenna for local ABC, or a sport- or league-specific streaming product.
These options are not interchangeable. A direct ESPN subscription may not include every ABC broadcast or every linear ESPN network. An antenna can provide local ABC where reception is adequate, but it cannot replace ESPN cable channels. Sports rights also differ among ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN+, ESPN Unlimited, ABC and league-specific services.
For selected ESPN programming, consult the official ESPN watch destination and verify the exact product, price, authentication rules and event coverage.
Checks to make before changing services
- Check your ZIP code and local ABC affiliate. Confirm that the station serving your market is available and that an antenna is a realistic backup.
- List the events you need. Identify whether they air on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN+ or another service.
- Review your renewal price. Promotions, free trials and add-on discounts may disappear when you change plans.
- Confirm ESPN Unlimited access. Do not treat “coming this fall” as current universal access or assume app authentication is included.
- Check your billing provider. Google, Apple, Roku, a mobile carrier and other providers may handle cancellation, credits and renewal differently.
- Compare the full monthly cost. Include taxes, sports packages, premium add-ons and any separate streaming subscriptions.
Bottom line for YouTube TV subscribers
The Disney and ESPN carriage dispute that threatened YouTube TV viewers was resolved in November 2025. There is no verified reason to cancel immediately in 2026. Stay if YouTube TV meets your current needs, consider Hulu + Live TV if Disney streaming is central to your household, and compare narrower sports options only after verifying the exact networks and events you require.
