The 2021 Top 50 Electronics Distributors List is a historical Source Today editorial ranking published by Electronic Design on November 10, 2021. It includes broadline catalog distributors, specialty suppliers, and independent and aftermarket sourcing companies.
It is not a current 2026 recommendation list or a fully documented revenue league table. The original article does not disclose a detailed scoring method, revenue year, geographic weighting, or a clear distinction between authorized and independent distributors. Verify current ownership, authorization, inventory, pricing, and terms before placing an order.

- Component Electronics Corp.
- Supreme Components International Pte. Ltd.
What does the ranking measure?
The article says Source Today editors collect the top electronic product distributors each year, but it does not present a detailed methodology. It does not clearly establish whether the order reflects total company revenue, electronics-distribution revenue, global sales, North American sales, authorized-channel volume, market reach, editorial prominence, or a combination of factors.
Accordingly, the safest description is Source Today’s 2021 editorial industry list. It should not be presented as a definitive global ranking, a verified revenue table, or a quality score.
Global, North American, or authorized-only?
The Source Today article does not clearly label the list as global, North American, or authorized-only. The international company mix suggests broad coverage, but that is an inference rather than a documented geographic rule.
This is different from the 2021 reports archived by the Electronic Components Industry Association and Electronics Sourcing, which separately identify Americas and worldwide rankings for authorized electronics-component distributors. Those reports used survey results, public financial data, manufacturer and distributor input, and secondary research. They are related research, not validation of the Source Today order.

Why other 2021 Top 50 lists look different
Several industry rankings used “Top 50” language in 2021 because they measured different markets:
- Source Today: a broad editorial distributor list whose visible article does not specify a quantitative ranking formula.
- Modern Distribution Management: a separate electronics-distributor ranking based on 2020 revenue, reported or estimated by MDM. Its list begins with Arrow, Avnet, Future Electronics, Digi-Key, and TTI.
- ECIA and Electronics Sourcing: separate Americas and worldwide reports focused on authorized distributors, with a stated research process.
MDM’s published figures should not be assigned to the Source Today ranking. For example, MDM reported or estimated 2020 revenue of $28.7 billion for Arrow, $17.6 billion for Avnet, $3.2 billion for Digi-Key, and $2.9 billion for TTI. MDM also cautioned that displayed company revenue can include activities outside the electronics vertical.
These differences can result from geography, calendar or fiscal periods, reported versus estimated figures, authorized-only versus mixed channels, and company revenue versus electronics-segment revenue. The separate MDM 2021 list should therefore be read on its own terms.

The rank alone is not a useful supplier-selection criterion because the list combines companies serving different procurement needs.
Broadline and catalog distributors
Arrow, Avnet, Future Electronics, Digi-Key, Mouser, Farnell/Newark, and Electrocomponents/Allied generally serve broad component-sourcing needs. Typical strengths include extensive manufacturer coverage, online search, datasheets, samples, design resources, and production logistics.
Rank #3
- Highest Cost Components Kit: It comes with more than 400pcs sensors and components for fun and simple electronic projects.
- Safe and Secure Pakcage: Resistors/LED/Transistors and Integrated Circuits are individually packaged and labeled, and well-stored in a sturdy box
- The Breadboard Power Supply come with a USB Power Cables, which is hard to find.
- Datasheet and Tutorial are available to download from our official website or you can contact our customer service.
- Not including the controller board.
For prototypes and low-volume purchases, buyers commonly compare Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark, Farnell, and regional industrial-electronics catalogs such as RS. Pricing, stock, and shipping depend on the part, quantity, account, and destination.
Specialized component distributors
TTI, RFMW, Sager Electronics, Richardson Electronics, Symmetry Electronics, PEI-Genesis, Powell Electronics, and Steven Engineering illustrate the specialty side of distribution. Their value may come from particular component families, franchised manufacturer lines, engineering support, or industry-specific knowledge.
Independent, shortage, and aftermarket sourcing
Smith, Fusion Worldwide, NewPower Worldwide, A2 Global, Classic Components, Sourceability, Chip 1 Exchange, Velocity Electronics, Area51 Electronics, Flip Electronics, and Brevan Electronics are examples of companies associated with independent, shortage, excess-stock, obsolete, or brokered sourcing roles. The exact service model and current capabilities must be confirmed with each supplier.
These channels can locate parts that are unavailable through authorized distributors, but they require more diligence regarding authenticity, date codes, packaging, traceability, inspection, warranty, and returns.
Aerospace, defense, and high-reliability supply
Crestwood Technology Group, Electro Enterprises, Nasco Aerospace & Electronics, Air Electro, Marine Air Supply, IBS Electronics, and PUI appear relevant to aerospace, defense, or high-reliability sourcing categories. This grouping does not mean every company has the same certifications, approvals, or qualification scope. Confirm the requirements for the specific program and part.

Interconnect and electromechanical specialists
Benchmark Connector, Kensington Electronics, PEI-Genesis, Powell Electronics, bisco industries, and Advantage Electric Supply represent connector, interconnect, electromechanical, or related specialist roles. A specialist may be a better fit than a higher-ranked broadline distributor for a narrow bill of materials.

How to choose a distributor
- Confirm the channel. Ask whether the seller is authorized for the relevant manufacturer, product line, and geography, or is independent, brokered, or aftermarket.
- Check physical availability. Distinguish physically verified stock from available-to-promise quantities. Confirm lead time, allocation, minimum order quantity, partial shipments, and approved alternatives.
- Calculate landed cost. Include unit price, freight, duties, taxes, brokerage, minimum-order charges, expedite fees, currency exposure, inspection costs, and non-cancellable or non-returnable terms.
- Match technical support to the job. Consider parametric search, CAD models, symbols, application notes, reference designs, samples, cross-reference tools, lifecycle alerts, and manufacturer-line support.
- Set quality requirements before ordering. For independent supply, request the exact part number and revision, lot and date codes, country of origin, chain-of-custody evidence, inspection or test reports, packaging details, and counterfeit-screening procedures.
- Review commercial terms. Compare credit requirements, purchase-order acceptance, returns, restocking fees, warranty, price protection, volume discounts, and long-term supply agreements.
- Check logistics. Verify warehouse location, export restrictions, regional tax treatment, local support, delivery service levels, and the ability to supply all production sites.
Authorized versus independent distribution
Authorized distribution is often the safer default for safety-critical, regulated, or warranty-sensitive designs because the buyer can generally seek manufacturer-backed documentation and a clearer supply chain. Authorization, however, does not guarantee immediate availability: factory allocation, regional stock, and long lead times can still apply.
Independent distribution may be useful for obsolete, allocated, or urgently needed parts. Before accepting an offer, verify:
- Exact manufacturer part number, revision, package, and quantity.
- Lot code, date code, country of origin, and traceability.
- Original packaging and moisture-sensitivity controls where relevant.
- Incoming inspection, electrical testing, decapsulation, or laboratory-analysis options appropriate to the risk.
- Counterfeit-screening procedures and nonconformance handling.
- Warranty, return rights, replacement policy, and test-report terms.
An inventory-aggregation service such as Octopart or TrustedParts.com can help locate offers, but the actual seller, authorization status, warranty, and return terms still need to be checked.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Historical context and current-use warning
The list was published in November 2021, during a period when electronics procurement decisions were heavily influenced by availability, allocation, lead times, and alternate sourcing. That context helps explain why a mixed list of broadline, specialty, and independent distributors was useful to readers at the time.

As of 2026, the list is five years old. It is valuable for historical research and for identifying companies that appeared in the 2021 market, but it cannot establish a company’s current financial position, ownership, authorization status, stock, geographic coverage, or service quality. Company names such as Electrocomponents/Allied, Farnell/Newark, and PUI/Projections Unlimited should be checked against current official sources before use.
Practical buying matches
- Prototype or low-volume engineer: Compare Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark, Farnell, and RS for part-level pricing, stock, quantity breaks, and delivery.
- Production OEM: Evaluate Arrow, Avnet, Future Electronics, TTI, and manufacturer-authorized regional suppliers for contracts, design-in support, allocation, and multi-site logistics.
- Passive- and interconnect-heavy bill of materials: Compare TTI, Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark, and relevant connector or electromechanical specialists.
- Hard-to-find or allocated parts: Consider independent sources such as Smith, Fusion Worldwide, NewPower Worldwide, A2 Global, or Sourceability only after enhanced authenticity and traceability checks.
- Aerospace or defense: Evaluate specialist suppliers against the program’s exact certification, traceability, export-control, and qualification requirements.
Catalog distributors usually expose public part-level pricing, quantity breaks, stock, and shipping estimates. Enterprise distributors typically rely on account setup, negotiated pricing, purchase orders, contracts, and quotations. Independent distributors commonly use RFQs and negotiated quotes. Prices and availability are volatile and geography-specific, so any current comparison should be dated and tied to a specific region.
