The fund’s target corpus is ₹1,500 crore, including a green-shoe option; the first-close figure is not the amount of the full target. NABARD is identified as the anchor investor.
What the first close means
A first close marks a fundraising milestone, not necessarily the completion of a fund’s fundraising. The release reports ₹450 crore in commitments at this close against a ₹1,500 crore target corpus. It does not say that the target has been fully raised. The target includes a green-shoe option, but the announcement material does not state that option’s size or terms.
The release names NABARD as the anchor investor. It does not identify other investors or disclose the fund’s duration, fee structure, or expected deployment pace. Read the distributed release; Inc42 also reported the close.
What Fund II plans to invest in
The release describes Fund II as targeting early- and growth-stage businesses that use technology, scalable business models, and sustainable solutions to address challenges in agricultural value chains and rural markets. The sectors named include:

These are the stated areas of focus, not a list of confirmed Fund II investments. The announcement does not name portfolio companies or set out individual investment sizes.
Impact goals are aims, not reported results
NABARD Chairman Dr. Shaji Krishnan V is quoted in the release describing goals that include higher productivity, stronger value chains, improved farmer incomes, resilient rural enterprises, sustainability, climate resilience, financial inclusion, and livelihood creation. These describe intended outcomes; the announcement provides no evidence that Fund II has already delivered them.
Rank #2
The release also says NABVENTURES’ earlier funds collectively backed 23 innovative enterprises. That figure refers to the earlier funds, not Fund II, and is not a measure of investment returns or performance.

The available terms come from a distributed release and Inc42’s report, rather than a first-party NABVENTURES announcement page located in the available coverage. The release attributes the announcement and the quoted statement to NABVENTURES and its stakeholders; readers should treat the reported figures and mandate as announcement terms, not as independently verified fund-performance data.
