The announcement concerned the Secretary Category 3 Grade 2 Main Examination 2023 run by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC). It should not be confused with the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), which is a separate body with its own portal and notifications.
The Scroll.in report gave two figures that readers often look for first:
- Posts: 134, as stated in the report. This figure was not checked against the original official advertisement, so treat it as the report’s number rather than a confirmed commission statistic.
- Application fee: Rs 25, as stated in the report and likewise not confirmed from the official advertisement.

Readers sometimes mix up the two May dates. May 24 was the last day to submit an application. May 31 was the later date for paying the fee and correcting a submitted form. Neither date allows a new application now.

How the 2024 notice told candidates to apply
According to the report, applications were to be filed online through the official UPSSSC website. The report pointed candidates to the site’s Live Advertisements section to find the notice. That was the 2024 process only. It is not a current instruction, and the site’s layout or section names may have changed since then.

How to check for a genuinely open UPSSSC notice
- Type the address yourself or use a bookmark. Only upsssc.gov.in is the official UPSSSC site referenced in these sources. Do not apply through a search-result link that points elsewhere.
- Open the advertisement itself and read the eligibility section, the last date for applications and the last date for fee payment. Note that these can differ, as they did in 2024.
- Look for corrigendum or amendment notices. A date can be extended or a post count revised after the first notice.
- Do not pay a fee to any third party that offers to process the application for you. Keep the payment receipt and the final application copy.
- Confirm that the advertisement is dated in 2026 before you act on it. A notice from 2024 is not evidence of a current opening.
Why the deadline matters for a financial decision
A government recruitment notice can look like a low-cost opportunity, since the reported fee was only Rs 25. The real cost is time spent preparing for an examination whose window and requirements may change. If you are weighing a government post as a career move, base the decision on the current official advertisement and the pay scale it states, not on an old headline.
