A 2022 ranking cited by Katadata listed seven pizzas priced from US$250 to US$12,000, led by Louis XIII. These are historical reported prices, not a verified current global ranking: the list attributes its selections to Wealthy Gorilla, gives no independent ranking method, and does not establish whether any pizza can still be ordered. Katadata also cautions that its English-language page is an AI-generated translation that may contain errors.
The seven pizzas in the 2022 reported ranking
The table follows the order and prices in Katadata’s March 1, 2022 article, which says its list is according to Wealthy Gorilla. The amounts are reported US-dollar prices per pizza or tray as rendered on Katadata’s translated page; the available sources do not establish comparable serving sizes or current ordering terms.
| Rank | Pizza | Reported price | What the cited coverage says |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Louis XIII | US$12,000 | Katadata describes dough made with Arab flour and pink salt, with the crust prepared for 72 hours. Its ingredient list includes three caviars—Oscietra Royal Prestige, Kaspia Oscietra Royal Classic, and Kaspia Beluga—seven cheeses, Cilento prawns, mantis shrimp, and lobster. |
| 2 | Pizza for Lovers | US$8,180 | Second entry in the ranking. The cited list does not establish current availability or ordering terms. |
| 3 | The Miss Verdun | US$4,250 | Third entry. Secondary coverage has described lobster, white truffle, caviar, gold flakes, preparation at home, and optional orchestra accompaniment, but those details are not verified as current terms. |
| 4 | Pizza Royale 007 | US$4,200 | Fourth entry. This reported list price is distinct from Guinness World Records’ dated figures for the earlier-named Pizza Royale 2007. |
| 5 | Nino Bellissima Pizza | US$1,000 | Fifth entry; the cited ranking supports the name and reported price. |
| 6 | The C6 | US$450 | Sixth entry. WorldAtlas describes it as a Steveston Pizza creation in British Columbia with lobster, smoked salmon, Alaskan cod, Russian Osetra caviar, and tiger prawns; these are secondary descriptions, not current menu verification. |
| 7 | Gordon Ramsay’s Pizza | US$250 | Seventh entry. WorldAtlas describes truffles, Italian onion puree, fontina, buffalo mozzarella, and herbs; neither that description nor the reported price establishes present-day availability. |
Why the list is not a definitive current world ranking
The seven entries reflect a particular roundup published in 2022, not a standardized survey of restaurant menus worldwide. The sources do not establish a consistent method for selecting or comparing pizzas, and WorldAtlas’s 2020 list differs in both selection and order. Prices also cannot be compared on a fully like-for-like basis: the available coverage does not establish uniform serving size, taxes, delivery, or current exchange rates. Treat each amount as a historical reported price for an individual dish, not as a live quote.
Luxury ingredients recur in the descriptions—especially seafood, caviar, truffle, specialty cheese, and edible gold—but expensive ingredients alone do not verify a pizza’s present menu price or availability.

A separate Guinness record: Industry Kitchen’s pizza
Guinness World Records lists a US$2,700 Industry Kitchen pizza in New York in the category “most expensive pizza commercially available,” with the record dated April 24, 2017. Its listed ingredients include black squid ink dough, UK white Stilton, French foie gras and truffles, Ossetra caviar from the Caspian Sea, Almas caviar, and 24-karat gold leaves. This is a dated record-category entry, not a current price or proof that the pizza remains available. Guinness cautions that “Records change on a daily basis and are not immediately published online.”

The US$4,200 Pizza Royale 007 figure belongs to the 2022 roundup. Guinness World Records’ separate entry concerns Domenico Crolla’s Pizza Royale 2007: it records a £2,150 eBay charity auction in 2007 and gives a normal retail price of £750 at Bella Napoli/Italmania in Glasgow. The auction result, stated historical retail price, and later roundup price describe different contexts and should not be treated as interchangeable current quotes.
