What is confirmed about China Airlines and the 777X?
Boeing announced on May 8, 2025, that China Airlines ordered 10 777-9 passenger aircraft and four 777-8 freighters. The order also includes options for five more 777-9s and four more 777-8 freighters. Boeing said China Airlines intends to use the 777X’s capacity and range on long-haul markets in North America and Europe. Boeing’s announcement does not call any named route the aircraft’s longest.
China Airlines’ own May 8, 2025, release names Los Angeles and Frankfurt as intended markets for the 777-9 and says deliveries were expected to begin in 2030. That is a forward-looking plan, not evidence that either route is already flown by a 777X. The airline’s announcement also does not describe either as its longest 777X route.
Does Boeing’s range figure identify a longest route?
No. Boeing publishes a range of 7,295 nautical miles (13,510 km) for the 777-9. This is the manufacturer’s aircraft specification, not a route distance, a guarantee of a particular nonstop service, or proof that an airline will operate a flight over that distance. The order announcement provides no route-specific distance or flight duration.

What remains unknown?
The official sources available here do not establish which airline or route the phrase “one of the Boeing 777X’s longest routes” refers to. They support China Airlines as a relevant example of a future 777-9 operator, but not as a verified answer to the headline’s superlative. Confirming that claim would require a route-specific airline announcement or schedule and a clear basis for comparison, such as distance or flight duration.
