Why Groww is expanding beyond trading
Groww was named Startup of the Year by the Economic Times Startup Awards 2026. The awards organizer describes its growth from a mutual-fund app into a large stockbroking platform, pointing to its November 2025 IPO, profit growth and national scale as factors in the jury’s decision. The company is now trying to build out several wealth-related businesses. ETtech reports that Groww is expanding wealth advisory, AI-powered mutual-fund advisory, bonds and US-stock investing. Its Rs 961-crore acquisition of Fisdom added expertise aimed at affluent customers.
Trading still accounts for most of the reported income
Equity derivatives and stock trading made up 68.4% of Groww’s total income in the June quarter, down from 75.7% in the year-earlier quarter, according to ETtech. This is a comparison for those quarters—not a full-year revenue breakdown. CEO and cofounder Lalit Keshre told ETtech, “The other wealth pieces are growing very fast.” That is management’s description of the businesses’ momentum, not evidence that they will necessarily replace trading revenue.

Retention and acquisitions are part of the stated approach
Keshre also described retention as a strength of Groww’s platform. On acquisitions, he told ETtech: “If we see something good, we will consider it, but we are not actively looking to make acquisitions.” He said credit’s share of the business was likely to remain stable. Why quick-commerce brands may need more festive working capital
Quick-commerce brands often need to hold more stock close to customers in dark stores, so they can fulfil orders quickly. ETtech reports typical inventory levels of 1.7–2.5 times for brands stocking dark stores, compared with 1–1.25 times for traditional ecommerce. More inventory tied up in fulfilment can increase the cash a business needs before sales turn into cash receipts.

One example in the dispatch is perfume brand Secret Alchemist, whose working-capital requirement rose 35% year over year during the festive season. The figure is a company example reported by ETtech, not a market-wide measurement. The dispatch also describes a compressed four-month festive calendar concentrating borrowing and replenishment needs, without specifying the calendar dates.
