How do the October layoffs compare with Amazon’s 2025–2026 cuts?
Reuters described the October 2026 cuts as following a larger round of 30,000 job cuts that began in 2025 and continued into January 2026. Amazon separately announced in January that it would reduce approximately 16,000 roles across the company. In that statement, Senior Vice President of People Experience and Technology Beth Galetti said most US-based employees would have 90 days to seek an internal role; timing varied internationally according to local and country requirements.
