Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The Xbox and Microsoft Store promotion tied to The Game Awards 2024 discounted more than 100 games, including several major December 2024 releases. Pure Xbox reported on December 10, 2024 that most of the listed offers were expected to last at least through December 12, 2024. That window closed long ago. The prices below are a historical record of what was offered, not something you can buy today, and this article uses them to show how to judge a game sale when you are deciding whether to buy or wait.
What the sale included
Pure Xbox highlighted Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Dragon’s Dogma 2, NBA 2K25, and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 among the sale’s notable titles. Its listed offers, as reported on December 10, 2024, were:

Pure Xbox’s table was the source for the sale’s breadth and these percentages. The “more than 100 games” figure is the outlet’s own count of the sale, not an independently audited number.
U.S. sale prices reported in December 2024
MobileSyrup published a separate account on December 9, 2024 with specific U.S. prices. The table below shows the reported sale price, the reported regular price, and the discount that follows from those two figures. The percentages are our arithmetic on the reported prices, not figures MobileSyrup stated.

| Game | Reported U.S. sale price (December 9, 2024) | Reported regular price | Implied discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balatro | $16.14 | $18.99 | about 15% |
| Dragon Age: The Veilguard | $62.99 | $89.99 | about 30% |
| Dragon’s Dogma 2 | $56.99 | $94.99 | about 40% |
| EA Sports College Football 25 | $44.99 | $89.99 | 50% |
| EA Sports FC 25 | $44.99 | $89.99 | 50% |
| Indika | $25.49 | $33.99 | about 25% |
The two reports do not fully agree. Pure Xbox listed 45% off Dragon’s Dogma 2, while MobileSyrup’s U.S. figures imply about 40%. The Dragon Age: The Veilguard discount matches at 30%. The gap may reflect different editions, regions, or timing, and neither outlet explained it, so treat the two figures as separate snapshots rather than one verified price.
Why these prices cannot be used today
Both reports describe a promotion that has ended. Digital storefront prices change often, and a discount reported in December 2024 says nothing about the price of the same game in October 2026. If you see a game listed at a similar discount now, check the current price on the storefront before treating it as a deal, and compare it with the regular price shown on the same page.

How to judge a game sale before you buy
A large percentage off is not the same as a good purchase. Use this checklist on any sale you are considering:
- Confirm the edition. A “Tournament Edition,” “Gold,” or “Complete” version may include different content from the base game, so compare like with like.
- Confirm the platform. Check that the listing applies to your console or PC and that the game is playable on your hardware.
- Compare the sale price with the regular price on the same storefront. A “discount” measured against an inflated regular price is less useful than the final price you pay.
- Check the sale end date. Pure Xbox’s December 2024 offers were expected to last at least through December 12, 2024, not indefinitely.
- Decide whether you need the game now. If you would be happy with the game in a few months, waiting for another promotion may cost you nothing.
The reports did not provide enough consistent information to rank the games against each other by value, so the best choice depends on which game you actually want to play.

Hardware note: the controller
The coverage concerns digital game discounts only. If you need a controller for these games, the Xbox Wireless Controller is the relevant accessory. Microsoft’s official controller page lists compatibility with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The controller was not reported as part of the sale, so do not assume a discount on it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Reader question: buy now or wait?
One reader commenting on Pure Xbox’s story asked whether to buy Dragon Age: The Veilguard during the sale or wait for a bigger one on Xbox or PS5. That comment reflects one reader’s view, not survey data, but it describes the trade-off well. Buying during a sale locks in a known price for a game you want now. Waiting only makes sense if you can accept the risk that a later sale may be smaller, or none at all.
