How much did Beetlejuice Beetlejuice make opening weekend?
Swank Motion Pictures reported a $145.4 million global opening weekend and a $110 million domestic opening on September 9, 2024. Those are contemporary reported figures. Later box-office database entries show a domestic opening of $111,003,345: The Numbers lists that amount, as does Box Office Mojo.

The opening-weekend figures measure the film’s initial release period; they are not the same as its eventual worldwide earnings. The Numbers lists a $294,100,435 domestic lifetime gross and a $451,980,048 worldwide lifetime gross. Box Office Mojo lists the worldwide lifetime total as $452,000,435. These databases differ slightly, so the defensible summary is that the film ultimately grossed about $452 million worldwide, according to their current listings.
Was it the biggest September opening?
Not according to the September ranking reported at the time. TheWrap described the film’s domestic opening as the second-largest September opening, behind It (2017), which opened to $123.4 million domestically. That is a U.S. domestic comparison for September openings; it does not establish a global opening-weekend record.

TheWrap’s September 8, 2024 report said Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opened in 4,575 theaters and took in $13.5 million in Thursday previews, $28.3 million on Friday, and $41.8 million on Saturday. These reported daily figures help explain the scale of the domestic launch, but should not be added to or substituted for the full opening-weekend estimate.
How did the film sustain its box-office run?
The Associated Press reported on September 22, 2024, that the film led the North American box office for a third consecutive weekend. AP also quoted Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian saying that, in September 2024, the movie generated around 47% of domestic box-office revenue. That share describes the month’s U.S. market in the context of a relatively quiet September, not the film’s share of worldwide revenue.

The movie’s theatrical performance also produced exhibitor-specific results. Cinemark said it drove the company’s best domestic September box-office weekend of all time, along with premium-format and concessions records. Those are Cinemark’s own company results, not an industry-wide record or evidence of a global box-office record.
What is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?
The official title is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a Warner Bros. Pictures release directed by Tim Burton. The U.S. theatrical release was September 6, 2024, with international release beginning September 4, according to the official movie site. The story follows three generations of the Deetz family returning to Winter River after a family tragedy; Lydia’s daughter Astrid discovers a mysterious model of the town and opens a portal to the Afterlife.

The Numbers lists the production budget at $100 million, a database-reported figure rather than a budget confirmed by the studio. Comparing that figure with a reported gross can give a rough sense of scale, but box-office gross is not studio profit: theaters retain a share, and marketing, distribution, and other costs are not captured by a simple budget-versus-gross comparison.

For a personal-finance-minded reader, the useful distinction is between a headline opening estimate, later database totals, and profit. The opening describes the debut; lifetime gross accumulates across the film’s run and markets; neither figure alone reveals the distributor’s net return.
