The claim that gotapex.com is dishonest is not established by the available evidence. Historical forum posts associate the domain with deal links and report a past redirect problem, but they do not prove fraud or show whether the site operates today. If you are considering a deal linked from it, assess the actual seller and offer before paying.
What is known about gotapex.com?
Archived forum discussions describe GotApex as a source for finding deals. In an AnandTech thread from October 22, 2002, participants discussed a Harman Kardon AVR520 offer and credited GotApex as the deal source. That historical mention does not verify the retailer, the offer’s terms, or the domain’s current operation.

A Spybot Forums thread dated October 6, 2007 records complaints that deal links redirected incorrectly to Dell. One participant later said other links were working again. This supports that users reported a technical problem at the time; it does not establish that the site intentionally misled anyone.
In an August 8, 2012 ClutchFans post, one user described GotApex as a former deal-site destination and said it was down then. That is a report about 2012, not confirmation of the domain’s status now.

Does that make the deal dishonest?
No conclusion of dishonesty follows from these records. A broken or misdirected link can frustrate shoppers, but the historical posts do not establish why it happened or show that GotApex knowingly promoted a false deal. The allegation in the title remains unverified.
Be careful not to confuse gotapex.com with similarly named businesses or domains. A search result for APEX Group, for example, concerns a different business and is not evidence about GotApex. Similar spelling alone does not show common ownership or connection.

How to check a deal before you buy
The Federal Trade Commission’s May 2024 guidance about unusually low-priced brand-name offers on social media recommends checking the seller outside the platform, comparing prices, reading the offer terms, and using a credit card when possible. This is general consumer guidance, not an FTC finding about GotApex.
- Identify the seller. Follow the deal link and note the company that will actually take payment and ship the item. Research that seller independently rather than relying only on the deal page or an advertisement.
- Compare the price. Check the same product and model with other retailers. A strikingly low price deserves extra scrutiny; a discount by itself does not prove a scam.
- Read the full terms. Check shipping charges and timing, return conditions, warranty coverage, and how to contact the seller. Make sure the terms apply to the exact item and offer.
- Choose a payment method with recourse. The FTC advises using a credit card when possible because you may be able to dispute a charge if the goods do not arrive. Review your card issuer’s dispute process and act within its deadlines.
These checks evaluate the seller and transaction in front of you. They cannot establish whether a historical deal site is currently trustworthy.
