That makes it a well-documented option—not a proven winner from comparative testing. If you want a simpler universal kit with a zig-zag cleat and stainless fittings, the Kayaks & Paddles kit is another option, provided its mounting approach suits your kayak.
What an anchor trolley does
An anchor trolley moves the point where the anchor line attaches along the side of a kayak. From the seating area, you can shift that point toward the bow or stern rather than fixing the anchor line beside the cockpit. That changes how the kayak is oriented relative to the pull; it does not guarantee stability or make anchoring safe in hazardous conditions. The anchor itself is separate from the trolley. Kayaks & Paddles’ kit listing describes this function and notes that a line attached near the cockpit can leave a kayak broadside to wind or current.

The retailer listing identifies stainless components but does not establish their grades or provide corrosion-test results; check current product documentation if saltwater use is a concern.
How to choose for your kayak
- Choose the control you prefer: the LeverLoc uses a lever clamp; the universal kit uses a zig-zag cleat. The available specifications do not establish which is easier or better in use.
- Check that the package is complete: look for pulleys, trolley line, an attachment ring or point, a cleat or clamp, and the fasteners needed for your hull. The two kits list different components and line lengths.
- Match the mounting method to hull access: the universal kit describes bolts and locknuts for an accessible back side, or rivets when it is not. Do not assume a “universal” label means it fits every kayak.
- Inspect the proposed mounting location: compare the kit instructions with your kayak’s layout before drilling. A kit’s backing plates or supplied fasteners do not by themselves confirm compatibility.
- Check current price and availability directly: the product sources cited here do not establish a current marketplace price or stock status.
What to know before installation
Installing a trolley can require drilling and may permanently alter the kayak. The universal kit instructions say to read the directions for the specific boat, measure before drilling, and stop if you are uncomfortable with the procedure. Follow the instructions supplied with the kit you buy; mounting details may differ.

Use the trolley with a safe anchoring plan
A trolley only changes the anchor-line attachment point. It does not eliminate risks from wind, waves, current, entanglement, or a difficult release. The cited kit instructions state: “ANCHORING A KAYAK IN STRONG CURRENTS, WAVES OR HIGH WINDS IS NOT ADVISABLE AND COULD LEAD TO SWAMPING AND/OR CAPSIZE.” They also advise being prepared to retrieve the anchor, cut the line, or ditch it. Treat that as the warning in those kit instructions, not as a guarantee that conditions outside those examples are safe. Follow the kit directions and applicable local boating guidance.
