There is no verified announcement-day statement from Zillow about Rocket Companies’ acquisition of Redfin. Rocket announced the all-stock deal on March 10, 2025, and completed the acquisition on July 1, 2025. Redfin filings document a separate Zillow lead-generation arrangement, while Zillow’s later statements about its rental-listings partnership do not establish how it reacted to the deal announcement.

Was there a verified Zillow response to the acquisition announcement?

No. The available sources do not verify a Zillow statement responding to Rocket’s March 10, 2025 announcement. Without a primary statement or reliable reporting that quotes one, it would be misleading to attribute a reaction to Zillow or to present a paraphrase as a quotation.

Zillow’s later comments about its rental-listings partnership with Redfin concern that relationship, not the March 2025 acquisition announcement. They should not be treated as an announcement-day response.

What Rocket announced—and what happened next

On March 10, 2025, Rocket said it had agreed to acquire Redfin in an all-stock transaction valued at $1.75 billion in equity value, or $12.50 per Redfin share. The $1.75 billion figure was the announced equity valuation, not a cash purchase price. Rocket’s announcement described the agreement and the company’s rationale.

The merger agreement provided for each eligible Redfin common share to convert into 0.7926 shares of Rocket Class A common stock, with cash paid instead of fractional shares. Redfin’s merger filing sets out the exchange terms.

Rocket said the acquisition would accelerate its purchase-mortgage strategy by bringing together mortgage, real-estate and personal-finance services with Redfin’s brokerage and listings business. That was Rocket’s strategic rationale, not proof that the combination has delivered the intended results.

The transaction is no longer pending: Rocket announced that it completed the acquisition on July 1, 2025. The original headline’s word “planned” describes the announcement stage, not the current status.

What Redfin’s filings show about its relationship with Zillow

Redfin’s 2025 Form 10-Q documents a Zillow lead-generation arrangement. It says Zillow guaranteed a minimum payment of $75,000 for Redfin lead-generation services during the first 12 months after the July 31, 2025 transition date. This is a contractual detail about lead generation; it does not show that Zillow endorsed, opposed or otherwise responded to Rocket’s acquisition announcement. Redfin’s filing provides the detail.

What Zillow said later about Redfin’s rental partnership

In September 2026, Zillow announced a resolution with the Federal Trade Commission and five states concerning its multifamily rental-listings syndication agreement with Redfin. Zillow said the resolution reaffirmed the partnership. That announcement indicates the rental relationship remained relevant after Rocket acquired Redfin, but it addresses the rental-listings arrangement and regulatory matter—not Zillow’s response to the March 2025 deal. Zillow’s announcement describes that later resolution.

How to read Rocket’s projected financial benefits

At the time of the announcement, Rocket projected $140 million in cost savings and more than $60 million in revenue benefit, according to contemporaneous Associated Press coverage. These were forecasts, not reported realized savings or revenue. The cited figures alone do not establish whether, or to what extent, the projected benefits were achieved. Associated Press’s March 10, 2025 report covers those expectations.

The distinction that matters

  • Deal terms: Rocket announced an all-stock acquisition with $1.75 billion in equity value and a 0.7926-share exchange ratio for each eligible Redfin share.
  • Deal status: Rocket completed the acquisition on July 1, 2025.
  • Zillow context: Redfin filings document lead-generation terms with Zillow, and Zillow later discussed a rental-listings partnership.
  • Announcement-day reaction: No verified Zillow response to Rocket’s March 2025 announcement is established by these sources.
