An unnamed man in his 20s from Preston, Melbourne, received a reported $50 million share of Australia’s $100 million Powerball jackpot after two division-one entries won the prize. He told lottery officials he planned to keep working and help his parents retire.
Who won the second share of the jackpot?
7NEWS reported on 29 November 2024 that the second division-one winner was an anonymous man in his 20s from Preston, a suburb of Melbourne. The report did not identify him by name. This was an Australian Powerball result, not a U.S. Powerball drawing.
The winner told lottery officials, “I’m speechless right now. I can’t wrap my head around it.”
How much did he win?
Two division-one entries shared the reported $100 million jackpot, so the Preston winner’s share was $50 million, according to 7NEWS. He was not the sole winner of the full jackpot.

What does the winner plan to do?
The man told lottery officials he would “absolutely” keep working. He also said he planned to use some of the money to help his parents retire. The report does not give further details about how he intends to use or manage his share.
What was unusual about his win?
According to the 7NEWS report, the man said this was the first Powerball ticket he had ever bought. That detail, like the prize amounts and his plans, is attributed to the news report rather than an independently cited lottery announcement.
