Yield Guild Games (YGG) entered game publishing with YGG Play and its first title, LOL Land, a browser-based casual board game launched on Abstract Chain on May 23, 2025. The game and publishing unit are no longer active: YGG announced their retirement in July 2026, and LOL Land’s official site set July 31, 2026, as its shutdown date.
What YGG launched
YGG, known for its Web3 gaming community, introduced YGG Play as a publishing unit intended to turn its experience with community gaming into games of its own. LOL Land was the unit’s debut title. In its launch announcement, YGG described it as a browser-based casual board game built on Abstract Chain. YGG’s May 2025 launch report said the game launched May 23.
The launch was an expansion from supporting a Web3 gaming community to publishing a game directly. YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon described the aim as using the group’s experience building experiences for its community to make games for a broader audience.
How LOL Land was designed to work
LOL Land centered on a casual board-game loop, with themed boards, points, collectible NFTs, and the possibility of YGG-token rewards. YGG’s launch report described a US$10 million rewards pool funded in YGG tokens. GamesBeat’s contemporaneous report on the launch described free and premium modes, with premium rolls associated with potential token rewards. Those features and reward terms describe the launch-era offering, not a service available today.

Why YGG retired YGG Play and LOL Land
On July 6, 2026, YGG announced it would sunset YGG Play and retire LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper. YGG said the publishing unit had generated more than $9 million in lifetime revenue by the end of Q1 2026, but was not commercially sustainable under market conditions. The revenue figure and explanation are YGG’s own claims, not an audited result or an independently established account of why the decision was made.

YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon called the decision “a market decision, not a product decision.” The company’s announcement described a broader retirement that included the YGG Play site, launchpad, related social channels, and community questing. It said the transition would be complete by August 1, 2026. The LOL Land site separately stated that the game would shut down July 31, 2026, and that its features would permanently cease functioning after that date. The notices use adjacent but different deadlines, so the shutdown date and transition date should be attributed to their respective sources.

No. The official LOL Land site announced the July 31, 2026 shutdown, and YGG’s July 2026 announcement confirmed the retirement of LOL Land as part of ending YGG Play. The game should be treated as discontinued, not as a currently playable title.
