Figures attributed to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) and reported by Electrek and the South China Morning Post put Xiaomi SU7 sales in China at 258,164 in 2025, compared with 200,361 Tesla Model 3 deliveries. That is 57,803 more vehicles, or about 29% more SU7s. The result is a model-to-model comparison in China for 2025—not evidence that Xiaomi outsold Tesla worldwide or delivered more vehicles as a company.
What the 2025 comparison measures

The reports describe a China market comparison for calendar year 2025. Their wording uses “sales” for the SU7 and “deliveries” for the Model 3, so the figures should be attributed as reported rather than treated as a newly verified, identical accounting measure. The underlying CPCA model-level table is not reproduced in the available reporting.
Electrek and the South China Morning Post report the same CPCA-attributed totals. The result supports the headline at the model level and in that market and year; it does not compare either automaker’s global sales or total company deliveries.
How Xiaomi’s own rankings qualify the result
In its 2025 annual results, Xiaomi said the SU7 Series ranked first in sales among sedans priced at or above RMB 200,000 in mainland China. That is a defined premium-sedan category, not a claim that the SU7 led every vehicle segment or every EV market. Xiaomi’s annual results provide this category statement separately from the CPCA-attributed Model 3 comparison.

The International Council on Clean Transportation’s H1 2025 monitor also included the SU7 among China’s ten best-selling battery-electric vehicle models, marking Xiaomi’s first entry on that list. The broader market is not limited to premium sedans: five of the monitor’s ten top-selling BEVs were minicars. Why later Xiaomi delivery totals are not an SU7 comparison
Full-year 2025
Xiaomi reported 411,082 vehicle deliveries across its range in 2025, up 200.4% year over year, and set a 2026 target of 550,000 vehicles. The 411,082 figure covers the company’s vehicles, not the SU7 alone, so it cannot be substituted for the model-level number above. Xiaomi’s 2025 annual results

First half of 2026
For H1 2026, Xiaomi reported 185,055 vehicle deliveries across its range, up 17.7% year over year. It said the SU7 Series ranked first among pure-electric sedans priced above RMB 200,000 in mainland China during that period. Xiaomi attributed lower SU7 Series deliveries to the end of first-generation SU7 sales in Q1, partly offset by increased YU7 deliveries. What the sales result does—and does not—say to car shoppers
More units sold can show that a model found substantial demand in a particular market and period. It does not, by itself, establish which car offers better value, reliability, range, equipment, software or ownership costs. A useful buying comparison would need to match the exact Chinese-market trim and model year, then compare those attributes on equivalent terms.

The available figures establish a sales lead for the SU7 in China in 2025, not a complete vehicle comparison or a recommendation for buyers. The CPCA-attributed totals also do not show why customers chose either model.

At the SU7’s 2024 launch, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun described Porsche as a long-term ambition, saying there was “still a long way to go” and that Xiaomi might “eventually surpass Porsche one day” after five to ten years of effort.
