Xbox has reportedly considered lower-priced Game Pass tiers and has discussed a possible bundle with Netflix, but none of the sources behind this article confirm a cheaper tier, a price, or a Netflix package. The reporting dates from March 24, 2026, and describes ideas under consideration, not an offer you can buy. A separate change is already scheduled: Xbox has announced monthly cloud-gaming hour limits starting in November 2026. That change is official, so it matters for your budget in a way the pricing talk does not yet.
What was reported in March 2026
Lower-priced Game Pass tiers
Windows Central, citing The Information, reported on March 24, 2026 that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma was considering “lower-priced tiers” for Game Pass. GameSpot summarized the same report that day. Neither account described a finished design, a monthly price, the games or platforms a cheaper tier would include, or a launch date. Treat the report as evidence that the idea was being discussed internally, not as evidence of a plan.
A possible Netflix bundle
The Netflix side of the story came from co-CEO Greg Peters, who said the two companies had “kicked around ideas” about subscription bundles. GameSpot quoted him at more length:
“You would have to do it in a way that works for the consumer and works for both companies, and frankly, I think Microsoft’s still trying to figure out how to make the Game Pass bundle work for Microsoft.”

The cloud-hour limits starting November 2026
On September 3, 2026, Xbox Wire announced that cloud-gaming hours will be capped each month beginning in November 2026. Xbox said members will be able to buy additional hours and that it would share more pricing and availability details before the change takes effect. Xbox also projected that the change would affect 4% of Game Pass subscribers. That figure is the company’s own estimate, not a measured result.

The staff memo and the price reduction
In April 2026, The Verge obtained a staff memo from Sharma, which GameSpot quoted: “Since our price reduction we have seen acquisitions grow and retention improve, which is a good first step.” The memo refers to a price reduction, but the cited sources do not say when it took effect or how large it was. The acquisition and retention claims are management’s characterization. No subscriber data behind them has been published, so readers cannot check them independently.

What this means for your budget
Until a cheaper tier or bundle is priced, budget with the plan you already have. Use this sequence:
- Record your current monthly Game Pass price from Xbox’s official plan comparison page, noting your region and the date you checked.
- Estimate your monthly cloud-gaming use. If you play in the cloud for fewer than 5 hours a month, the Essential limit would not affect you. Heavier cloud players on Ultimate or Premium should compare their usage against 15 or 10 hours.
- If you expect to exceed your limit, wait for Xbox’s extra-hour pricing before deciding. Do not guess the cost.
- To test a bundle, use this formula once a bundle price exists: monthly savings = (Netflix price you already pay + Game Pass price you already pay) − bundle price. A bundle only saves money if you would use both services and the combined price is lower than what you pay separately.
- Do not cancel or switch plans in anticipation of an announcement. Watch Xbox Wire for the pricing details it has promised.
When a new tier or bundle is announced, check these before you commit:
Quick wins for a faster PC:

- The monthly price, and whether it applies only in certain regions.
- Which games and platforms are included, and whether that matches how you play.
- Cloud-gaming hour limits and the cost of extra hours.
- Whether the Netflix component includes advertising, and which Netflix plan it provides.
- Your next renewal date, and how to cancel or change plans before it.
Xbox’s cloud-hour limits are a confirmed change to what you pay for. The cheaper tier and the Netflix bundle are not, and budgeting around them now would mean planning for savings nobody has yet offered.
