Zootopia 2 grossed about $104 million in China on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, its fourth day in release. That was reported as the biggest single-day gross there for a non-Chinese film, topping Avengers: Endgame. The record is about one day’s box office in China—not the film’s opening weekend or lifetime total.
What record did Zootopia 2 set?
On Nov. 29, 2025, the film took in roughly RMB 737 million in China, equivalent to about $104 million, according to Deadline’s report. Other accounts put the day’s result at $104.6 million or CNY 730 million. Those figures vary by source and currency conversion, but describe the same reported milestone: a record single-day gross in China for a non-Chinese film, surpassing Avengers: Endgame.

Reports describe it variously as a record for a studio film, a Hollywood film, or a non-Chinese film. The narrower, more useful wording is that it set the reported single-day record in China for a non-Chinese film; the available figures do not establish a separate, independently audited category covering every foreign release.
How big was the day compared with other milestones?
The reported Saturday haul crossed $100 million in a single day in China, making Zootopia 2 the first Hollywood film reported to do so. Ne Zha 2 is the only other animated film identified in the reporting as having exceeded $100 million in one day there. That comparison includes a Chinese film; the record against Endgame concerns non-Chinese films.

The single-day result was part of a much larger opening. Deadline reported a $556.5 million global opening weekend, then the fourth-largest global debut and the largest opening for an animated film. Variety reported that the film earned $272 million in China from Wednesday through Sunday, making it the biggest opening there for a non-local animated film and the second-biggest non-local opening after Avengers: Endgame.

Why do reports give different dollar amounts?
The underlying China figures are reported in renminbi, while dollar equivalents depend on the exchange rate used. Deadline’s report gives RMB 737 million, or about $104 million; Yicai Global reported CNY 730 million; and a figure attributed to trade analyst Luiz Fernando and carried by Koimoi and IMDb was $104.6 million. The small differences do not change the scale of the record, but they mean the result is best described as approximately $104 million rather than as one exact dollar figure.

Did Zootopia 2 beat Avengers: Endgame overall?
It beat Endgame for the reported single-day China record among non-Chinese films. That does not mean it surpassed Endgame in every box-office measure. A January 2026 report from Sacnilk put Zootopia 2’s China cumulative gross at ¥4.250 billion versus ¥4.249 billion for Endgame, while reporting dollar totals of $607 million and $632 million, respectively. This is a secondary aggregator’s comparison, and the difference between the yuan and dollar rankings illustrates why lifetime comparisons need a specified currency and source.

A Dec. 31, 2025 report from ComicBasics put Zootopia 2 at about $1.46 billion worldwide and said it had passed Frozen 2 to become Disney Animation’s highest-grossing film. That later figure is not the same as the November opening or single-day record, and it comes from a lower-confidence secondary report rather than a primary box-office tracker. It should be treated as a dated reported total, not a current lifetime figure.
