United Airlines still reported 45 firm Airbus A350 commitments in its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, but it listed no expected deliveries for the second half of 2026, 2027, or later. The order has not been shown as canceled in that filing, yet United has not provided a current delivery timetable—so whether it will ever take the aircraft remains uncertain.
What United’s latest filing says about the A350 order
United Airlines Holdings’ Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 reports 45 firm A350 commitments. Its delivery table shows no expected A350 deliveries in the last six months of 2026, in 2027, or after 2027. The filing does not say the order has been canceled, but it also supplies no date by which the aircraft are expected to arrive.
United cautions that it “cannot guarantee delivery of any particular aircraft at any specific time notwithstanding firm purchase commitments.” A firm commitment is therefore not the same as a delivered aircraft or a guaranteed arrival date.
How to read the order count and delivery schedule
The reported commitment count, a projected delivery schedule, and completed deliveries are different measures. As of June 30, 2026, the first remained at 45; the filing listed no expected deliveries in the periods it disclosed. Neither figure establishes that United has received any A350s.

United’s commitment count is corroborated by Airbus’s June 2026 customer list, which lists 45 A350-900s for United. That separate list confirms the number of aircraft associated with the order, not when they will be delivered.
Why United ordered the A350s—and why the old schedule is not current
In a September 2017 investor update, United said it had increased its order by 10 aircraft to 45, chosen the A350-900 as a better fit for its network than the larger variant, and planned to use it to replace Boeing 777-200ERs. The update deferred deliveries to late 2022 through 2027. That was the plan stated in 2017; it is not a current forecast and has since been superseded by the absence of expected delivery periods in the 2026 filing.

A February 2026 amendment to the A350-900 purchase agreement identifies the underlying amended and restated agreement as dated September 1, 2017. It shows that the contractual documentation continued to be amended, but it does not set a delivery schedule or guarantee that the aircraft will be delivered.
How the Rolls-Royce dispute affects the outlook
Reuters reported on February 13, 2026, that United disclosed a dispute with Rolls-Royce over a long-term engine and maintenance agreement for the A350. According to Reuters, United alleged that Rolls-Royce breached the agreement and sought repayment of a $175 million upfront payment plus an additional amount. Rolls-Royce denied breaching its obligations. These are the parties’ positions as reported, not a court finding.

Reuters described Rolls-Royce as the sole maker of A350 engines. The dispute therefore adds uncertainty to the order’s prospects, but the available reporting does not establish its outcome or show that United canceled its A350 commitments. Reuters also reported that United’s filing gave no delivery timetable.

The evidence available as of United’s June 30, 2026 filing supports neither a definite yes nor a definite no. United still reported 45 firm commitments, while providing no expected delivery period; Airbus’s customer list independently showed the same order count. The engine dispute is unresolved in the cited reporting. Until United or Airbus announces a change or a later filing supplies a schedule, whether United will ultimately take the A350s remains an open question.
