What makes the M109R appealing—and what makes it a big commitment?
The M109R is a large-displacement muscle cruiser, not a lightweight, low-cost commuter. Suzuki’s 2025 U.S. specifications describe a 1783cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC 54-degree V-twin with fuel injection, a five-speed transmission, and shaft final drive. Its seat is 705 mm (27.8 in.) high, while curb weight is 347 kg (764 lb.). The low seat may help a rider reach the ground, but it does not make the motorcycle easy to maneuver at walking speed. - Distinctive size and styling: The 2025 model’s listed rear tire is a wide 240/40R18, paired with a 130/70R18 front tire. Suzuki’s brochure calls the rear tire “the widest ever used on a Suzuki motorcycle”; that is Suzuki’s product description, not an independent comparison. - Touring and comfort options: Suzuki’s 2025 brochure lists an engine guard, rear rack compatible with a passenger backrest, gel seat, and saddlebags as genuine accessory options. Confirm availability and fitment for the exact model year before treating accessories on a listing as valuable.
Trade-offs to account for
The published 347 kg curb weight matters most when moving the motorcycle, parking, and handling tight turns at low speed. Before buying, sit on the actual bike and assess whether you can move and control it comfortably; an in-person ride should include parking-lot speeds and stops. What is a fair price for a specific used M109R?
Start with a year-specific valuation reference, then compare it with current local listings. Treat the result as a negotiating aid, not a promise of what the motorcycle is worth. The total cost matters more than the sticker price: include taxes and fees where applicable, any immediate maintenance, and tires or other parts the bike needs.
Compare the bike, not just the year
- Title and history: Confirm title status and ask for service records. Look for evidence of damage, poor storage, or modifications, and consider an independent mechanical inspection if you cannot assess the bike yourself.
- Mileage and maintenance: Ask what work has been done and compare it with the schedule in the correct year’s owner’s manual. Mileage alone does not establish condition.

When is the M109R a bargain?
