Whole Foods Market opened its Crystal City Daily Shop at 1550 Crystal Drive in Arlington on October 23, 2025. The company described it as a compact, quick-stop grocery format—not a smaller version with a documented copy of every department and product found in a conventional Whole Foods supermarket.
Where is the Crystal City Daily Shop?
The store is at 1550 Crystal Drive in Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood, near Amazon’s HQ2 campus. Its location provides context, but Whole Foods did not describe the store as intended exclusively for Amazon employees.

In the opening announcement, Store Team Leader Jose Gomez said: “We’re a 3-minute walk from the metro and close to Reagan airport in a neighborhood busy with active residents, shopping and offices,” said Jose Gomez, Store Team Leader. That is the company-issued description of the location, not an independently measured travel time. Whole Foods’ October 23, 2025 opening announcement
What is a Daily Shop, and how is it different from a regular Whole Foods?
Amazon describes Daily Shop as a smaller grocery format focused on curated grab-and-go meals, coffee and everyday essentials. The idea is a faster stop for selected ready-to-eat food and routine needs, rather than the fuller assortment shoppers may expect at a conventional supermarket.

The company called Crystal City more than 10,000 square feet, making it the largest Daily Shop opened at the time. That is a company-reported figure from the 2025 launch, not a current measurement. The announcement also said the store featured more than 250 items from the broader D.C., Maryland and Virginia region and surrounding states. It did not name those suppliers or establish that the same selection remains available today. Whole Foods’ launch announcement
Neither the launch materials nor the cited company updates provide a measured, store-by-store comparison of Daily Shop and standard Whole Foods assortment or prices. The format description is useful for setting expectations, but it does not verify specific departments, products, current inventory or prices at 1550 Crystal Drive.

How the Daily Shop footprint has changed
Crystal City was the fourth Daily Shop and the first outside New York City when it opened in October 2025. Whole Foods announced additional locations in Brooklyn and Hoboken that November. Whole Foods’ November 12, 2025 announcement
By May 13, 2026, Whole Foods said there were eight Daily Shop locations across the New York City metro area, Arlington and London. In a separate update, Amazon said five more Daily Shops were planned by the end of 2026. The first figure is the company’s reported count in May; the second is a plan, not confirmation that five stores opened. Neither establishes the total number operating in October 2026. Amazon’s May 2026 grocery strategy update also said the company planned to close Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical stores while investing in Whole Foods expansion and grocery delivery. That broad strategy does not establish that the Crystal City Daily Shop replaced an Amazon Fresh location. Amazon separately said it planned more than 100 new Whole Foods Market stores over the next few years; that figure refers to Whole Foods Market expansion, not 100 Daily Shops.
