This guide explains what the official U.S. announcement covered, which product details are confirmed, and what to check before buying a copy now.
What the official announcement says
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment published its U.S. announcement on December 26, 2024. Its headline line read “PRE-ORDER NOW ON 4K UHD, BLU-RAY™ AND DVD, AVAILABLE FEB 4.” The phrase “pre-order now” describes the period before the street date. It is not a current offer, and this article does not confirm whether any retailer still lists the disc.

Do not carry the 4K audio specification over to the Blu-ray. The two discs have different audio formats. The announcement lists DVD as part of the same release, but it does not give a DVD UPC or disc specifications.
Was it a boxed set?
The announcement names 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD as formats. It does not describe the release as a boxed set or collector’s set, so the word “boxed” in the original headline is not supported by that source.

- Runtime: 138 minutes
Two later Universal products are easy to confuse with this release: Wicked: For Good, and the Wicked 2-Film Collection. Both are separate products. Their existence does not make the original 2025 disc a boxed set.
Digital purchase and bonus content
The announcement describes digital buy-or-rent availability separately from the physical discs. It also associates bonus content and a sing-along version with the digital offer. Extras can differ between digital stores and between digital and physical copies, so check the specific store listing for the features you want.

Before you buy a copy now
- Match the UPC. Compare the barcode on the listing or packaging with 191329269275 (4K UHD) or 191329252659 (Blu-ray).
- Check your player for 4K. A 4K UHD disc requires a 4K UHD-capable player. A Blu-ray disc plays in a standard Blu-ray player and in most 4K players.
- Verify price and stock directly. This article has not checked current prices, stock, or delivery estimates. These change, so confirm them at the seller before ordering.
- Compare total cost. Add shipping to the disc price and compare the result with a digital rental or purchase of the same film. If you plan to watch only once, renting may cost less than owning a disc.
Because the physical discs are older releases, a new copy may be sold by third-party sellers at prices that differ from the original retail price. Check the seller’s condition notes and return policy before paying a premium.
