On August 4, 2026, the company closed a merger that made it a wholly owned subsidiary of Oak-Eagle AcquireCo, Inc. That parent was formed by a consortium of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), funds affiliated with Silver Lake, and funds affiliated with Affinity Partners. Before the close, PIF was the largest named shareholder in EA’s public ownership table, with 9.83% of the company as of July 21, 2026.
Who owns EA now
EA’s current owner is its acquisition parent. The SEC completion filing (Form 8-K) records that Merger Sub merged into EA on August 4, 2026, with EA surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary of Oak-Eagle AcquireCo, Inc. The parent and Merger Sub were both formed by the consortium.
The filing names the three investor groups but does not state how much of the parent each one owns. No reliable post-close percentage for PIF, Silver Lake-affiliated funds, or Affinity-affiliated funds is available from the public record. The accurate way to describe the ownership is that EA is wholly owned by Oak-Eagle AcquireCo, whose investor group includes PIF, Silver Lake-affiliated funds, and Affinity-affiliated funds. Saying that one country or one fund “owns EA” goes beyond what the filing shows.
Who held the most shares before the close
EA’s Form 10-K/A contains an ownership table measured on July 21, 2026, two weeks before the merger closed. It is a historical snapshot, not a description of today’s owners.

The footnotes in the filing give different underlying report dates for these figures, so the percentages should not be read as if they were all measured on the same day. The 9.83% figure is PIF’s direct pre-close holding. It is not PIF’s share of the parent company today.
What the deal terms said
- Cash price: Under the terms EA announced on September 29, 2025, public stockholders would receive $210 in cash per share.
- Rollover: The consortium would acquire 100% of EA, and PIF would roll over its existing stake. The announcement described that stake as 9.9%, while the July 21, 2026 table shows 9.83%. The two numbers come from different documents and dates, so they should be treated as approximately the same holding.
- Deal size: The SEC filing describes approximately $55 billion in total merger consideration. That is the total transaction value. It is not the equity contributed, the debt raised, or any single investor’s contribution.
- Listing: EA common stock was to stop trading on a public market after the close.
What the public record does not establish
- Each consortium member’s percentage ownership of Oak-Eagle AcquireCo.
- The size of PIF’s rolled-over stake as a percentage of the parent company after closing.
- Any post-close holdings by BlackRock, Vanguard Capital Management, State Street, or Pentwater Capital Management.
Readers who need a post-close breakdown will need a later disclosure from the parties, such as a filing that identifies the parent’s ownership split. Until one exists, the consortium-level description above is the most precise answer the public record supports.
