You generally cannot transfer Delta Medallion status into another airline’s loyalty program. What carries over is recognition: when you fly an eligible partner-operated flight, Delta’s partner arrangements can give you a matching tier or specific benefits on that airline. On SkyTeam carriers, Silver Medallion maps to SkyTeam Elite, and Gold, Platinum, and Diamond map to SkyTeam Elite Plus. Beyond SkyTeam, Delta lists a separate group of Global Airline Partners, and the benefits on those carriers vary by airline and itinerary.
This guide explains which airlines recognize Delta status, what each tier gets you, where the exceptions are, and why gifting, status matching, and miles transfers are separate from partner recognition. The partner details below reflect Delta’s International Partner & SkyTeam Benefits page as checked on 8 October 2026. Partner lists and fare rules change, so confirm the airline’s row before you book.
Why “transfer” is the wrong word for what Delta offers
Delta Medallion status is tied to your SkyMiles account and to Delta’s own qualification rules. Another airline does not convert it into one of its own tiers, and you cannot move it out of Delta the way you might move a balance of points. Delta’s rules also prohibit selling or bartering Medallion status and its benefits, except where Delta’s own program terms allow it.
What Delta does provide is partner recognition. If you are flying a partner airline’s aircraft under a Delta-partner arrangement, that airline may recognize your Medallion tier and give you the benefits in its partner table. Delta says benefits eligibility is determined by your status on the day of travel, and that benefits may be changed or suspended. So think of your status as valid on eligible partner flights, not as a credential you carry to a different airline’s program.

Which airlines recognize Delta Medallion status?
Delta’s partner page groups its airlines into categories. The categories are not a promise that every airline in them gives every benefit, so treat the table below as a map of who is involved, not a list of what each one pays out.

Some airlines appear in more than one category because Delta describes its commercial partnerships separately from alliance membership. A carrier can be a SkyTeam member and a Delta Core Global partner at the same time, which means its benefits can come from both sources. Delta directs travelers to the carrier-specific benefit list for the final answer.

What each Medallion tier means on a SkyTeam airline
Delta’s partner page states: “When traveling on any SkyTeam airline, all Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion Members receive ‘SkyTeam Elite Plus’ status, and Silver Medallion Members receive ‘SkyTeam Elite’ status.”
Silver Medallion: SkyTeam Elite
Silver maps to SkyTeam Elite. Expect the benefits that come with Elite recognition, which are narrower than Elite Plus. Check the operating airline’s rules for any specific perk you need, such as seat selection or priority check-in.

Gold, Platinum, and Diamond: SkyTeam Elite Plus
All three higher tiers map to SkyTeam Elite Plus. Delta’s alliance benefits for eligible Elite Plus travel include priority services and partner lounge access, subject to the itinerary rules that apply to that flight. Delta’s broader partner page also lists priority boarding, preferred seats, and waived checked-baggage fees, but only where the individual carrier offers them.
Global partners outside SkyTeam: benefits vary
Delta’s Core Global and Global Airline partners are not limited to SkyTeam. Each carrier has its own benefit row, and the rows differ. Before relying on a perk such as lounge access or a baggage waiver on a non-SkyTeam partner, find the operating airline in Delta’s table and read what it lists for your tier.

Hawaiian Airlines
Delta names Hawaiian Airlines as a Global Airline Partner but says it currently offers no Medallion benefits. A Hawaiian flight may still earn you SkyMiles, but do not expect Medallion recognition on it.
ITA Airways
Delta’s page notes that ITA Airways is no longer in SkyTeam. Delta also said that, when the page was written, no immediate impact to Medallion benefits was anticipated. Separately, Delta lists May 1, 2025 as the end date for ITA lounge benefits. If you are planning ITA travel, confirm the current position on lounge access before you rely on it.

Gifting, status matching, and miles transfers are different things
Several Delta programs sound like status transfers, but none of them moves your Medallion status to another airline.
- Gifting status to another person. Delta offers a Choice Benefit that lets eligible members share certain Medallion tiers with other SkyMiles members. Delta’s Diamond tier page describes gifting Gold Medallion status to up to four members. The Choice Benefit’s annual terms set eligibility, recipient rules, and valid-through dates, so check them before you count on a gift. Gifting stays inside Delta’s program.
- Status match into Delta. Delta’s Status Match Challenge works in the opposite direction. Travelers who already hold elite status with another airline may apply for temporary Delta Medallion status and complete a challenge. It brings status into Delta and does not send Delta status out.
- Transferring miles. Delta allows SkyMiles transfers, but says transfer fees do not count toward Medallion qualification. Moving miles does not move status, and a miles transfer will not change your tier.
Checklist before you book a partner flight
Use these checks to confirm whether your Medallion tier will apply on a given trip.
- Operating carrier: the airline flying the aircraft, not just the airline on your ticket, determines which partner row applies.
- Alliance or Delta partner category: confirm whether the carrier is a SkyTeam airline, a Core Global partner, or a Global partner.
- Medallion tier on the day of travel: benefits follow your status on that date.
- Fare type: Delta Basic fares and other partner-specific exclusions can remove a benefit even when your tier qualifies.
- Route and cabin: some benefits apply only on particular routes or flights.
- The specific perk you need: priority check-in or boarding, checked-baggage waiver, seat selection, lounge access, or upgrades each follow their own rule.
If a benefit is denied at check-in, ask the agent for the operating airline’s partner rule, then compare it with the carrier’s row on Delta’s page. That comparison usually shows whether the problem is the fare, the route, or the carrier.
