On CME Group’s October 7, 2026 quote page, December 2026 Chicago Soft Red Winter (SRW) Wheat futures (ZW) were shown at 701’4 during that session; the page listed the October 6 settlement as 704’2. These are delayed web-market figures, not an October 8 live price. CME says its displayed market data is delayed by at least 10 minutes and is for reference only. Check CME’s ZW quotes.
What does the ZW wheat price represent?
ZW is the CME Group product code for its Chicago SRW Wheat futures contract. It is a deliverable futures contract for a specified wheat class and delivery market—not one universal cash price for every kind of wheat or a local elevator bid.
CME quotes wheat in U.S. cents per bushel. The notation 704’2 means 704 and 2/8 cents per bushel, or 704.25 cents ($7.0425) per bushel. Futures prices depend on the contract month; a quote for December 2026 is not interchangeable with a quote for another delivery month.
CME lists Kansas City Hard Red Winter wheat futures under the separate code KE. Compare prices only after matching the wheat class and delivery market, contract month, quote type and observation time, and units. CME’s wheat market overview describes the distinct contracts.

Market context: dated USDA forecasts
USDA’s Economic Research Service outlook dated September 18, 2026 forecast the United States to be the fifth-largest wheat exporter in 2026/27 and global wheat trade to be 6 percent below the previous year’s record.
