The Arizona Cardinals still describe their aircraft as a Boeing 777-200ER purchased in 2020. The FAA identifies registration N777AZ as a Boeing 777-232, built in 2002, and recent flight-tracking records show trips between Phoenix and New York on October 3 and 4, 2026. Those records establish recent activity associated with Cardinals travel—not the plane’s beneficial owner, current cabin layout, or future schedule.
What aircraft do the Cardinals use?
The Cardinals’ official biography says the team purchased a Boeing 777-200ER in 2020. The FAA registry identifies N777AZ as a Boeing 777-232, serial number 29743, with 2002 listed as its manufacturer year. These are different naming conventions for describing the aircraft: the team uses the 777-200ER designation, while the FAA record gives the 777-232 model entry.
The team’s statement is evidence of how the franchise describes the purchase; it does not, by itself, settle the aircraft’s present legal or beneficial ownership.
Who owns and operates N777AZ?
The FAA registry lists Wilmington Trust Company Trustee as the registered owner of N777AZ. Registration records identify the party on the FAA entry; they do not establish who ultimately benefits economically from the aircraft or resolve the Cardinals’ purchase statement.

A U.S. Department of Transportation order dated July 16, 2024 describes a related operating arrangement: Gridiron Air leased two Boeing 777-232ERs, configured for 288 passenger seats, and operated for Arizona Cardinals Football Club LLC under its 14 CFR Part 125 certificate. The team’s purchase description and the DOT’s account of leasing and operations address different aspects of the arrangement. The available records do not fully reconcile legal and economic ownership.
The DOT order is a dated account, not a current fleet inventory. Its two-aircraft figure and 288-seat configuration should not be treated as confirmation of the Cardinals’ current fleet size or the interior of N777AZ today.

Has the plane flown recently?
Flightradar24’s N777AZ page associates the aircraft with the Arizona Cardinals and lists VCAP Aviation as operator. Its flight history shows a Phoenix-to-New York trip on October 3, 2026, followed by a return to Phoenix on October 4. That is evidence of those recorded flights, not a published schedule or a guarantee of future use.
Flight tracking and registration records also do not establish the aircraft’s condition or airworthiness. The FAA cautions that registry data alone does not determine airworthiness or current aircraft configuration. See the FAA Aircraft Inquiry.

Can fans travel on the Cardinals’ 777?
In 2025, the Cardinals announced Cardinals Premier Travel, a fan package that included private air travel aboard the team’s 777-200ER, along with hotel accommodations, local transportation, a tailgate, and game tickets. The announcement establishes that the package launched; it does not show that bookings are currently open.
