That is a share of Robux, not a promise that you receive 70% of the buyer’s cash spending.
How the standard game pass split works
For a pass you created and sell in your own game, the creator receives 70% of the Robux spent; Roblox keeps the remaining 30% as its Marketplace Fee, according to Roblox’s Passes documentation.

For example, if a player spends 100 Robux on an eligible pass purchase, the standard split gives you 70 Robux and Roblox 30 Robux. This calculation is in Robux; it does not convert the purchase into a fixed cash payout.
When someone else’s pass is sold in your game
If your game sells a pass created by another creator, Roblox documents a different allocation: 60% goes to the original pass creator, 10% goes to the game owner as an affiliate fee, and 30% is Roblox’s fee. The game owner’s 10% is not an additional share of their own pass sales. See Roblox’s monetization documentation.

Roblox’s Passes page states that cross-game pass sales will be disabled starting May 30, 2026. Because this is a platform policy with a stated effective date, check the current Passes documentation for the applicable status and implementation details.
Why 70% does not mean 70% of cash
The 70% figure is calculated from Robux spent on the pass. The buyer’s cash cost to obtain Robux is separate, and this percentage rule does not establish a fixed cash equivalent for your earnings. Creators who want to exchange eligible earned Robux for cash must separately qualify for Roblox’s Developer Exchange program (DevEx); see Roblox’s monetization guidance for the program and its requirements.

How Roblox Plus discounts affect the effective share
Roblox’s Plus example keeps creator earnings at 70 Robux on a 100-Robux item while a subscriber pays less because Roblox subsidizes part of the discount. At a 10-Robux discount, the subscriber spends 90 Robux and Roblox contributes 10; at a 20-Robux discount, the subscriber spends 80 and Roblox contributes 20. Roblox describes those examples as an effective creator share of 78% or 88% of the user’s spend, respectively. These are shares of discounted user spend, not a change to the standard 70% split of the list price. Details are in Roblox’s Plus documentation.

Roblox describes passes as one-time Robux purchases that grant a special privilege in a game, such as access to a restricted area, an in-game avatar item, or a permanent power-up. For items players may buy repeatedly—such as currency, potions, or temporary power-ups—Roblox identifies developer products as the appropriate option. See the Passes documentation.
