It does not reveal whether the two reconciled or what their relationship is like now; the settlement terms were private, and no reliable current account cited here confirms they resumed contact.
What happened between Vanessa Bryant and Sofia Laine?
The dispute became public in 2020, when Laine raised grievances about housing and support and later sued Vanessa. Laine alleged that she had worked for the Bryant family without pay and that Kobe Bryant had promised to support her. Those were Laine’s claims, not established findings. The Los Angeles Times reported on the lawsuit and Vanessa’s response.
Vanessa disputed her mother’s account. She said Laine had not been a family employee, disputed the alleged promises, and said the family had supported Laine. Vanessa also described the public dispute as deeply hurtful. The parties’ accounts were reported in December 2020; the available reporting does not establish either side’s allegations as a court finding.
Did they reconcile after the lawsuit?
There is no reliable public confirmation in the sources cited here that Vanessa and Laine reconciled. In a statement reported in December 2020, Laine said she had hoped the legal process would run its course without publicity and added that she hoped they could return to an amicable mother-daughter relationship. That expressed a hope at the time; it does not show that reconciliation later happened. TMZ reported Laine’s statement.

A July 2025 report about a family outing involving Vanessa and her sister does not provide evidence about Laine or the mother-daughter relationship. Sports Illustrated’s report concerned her sister, not a reunion with her mother.
