Brake Free received an on-air offer of $200,000 for 20% equity from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec on Season 12, Episode 8 of Shark Tank. According to co-founder and CEO Alex Arkhangelskiy, speaking in a 2025 interview reported by BGR in 2026, the deal never closed. The company is still in business and still sells its helmet-mounted brake light through its website, where black and white USB-C models are listed at $159.99 as of October 8, 2026.
Did the Sharks’ offer become a completed deal?
No, not according to the company’s own founder. The offer was made on camera, but the later account is that no investment was finalized. BGR’s 2026 report attributes that point to Arkhangelskiy’s comments in a 2025 interview with Motorcycle & Powersports News. In that interview he also speculated that the pandemic may have been a factor, which is his opinion rather than a documented cause. The company’s own post about the interview confirms the conversation covered his Shark Tank experience, but the post itself does not spell out how the offer ended, so the closure claim rests on the reported interview.
When you describe the outcome, separate the episode from the business result. Accurate phrasing is: “Brake Free landed an on-air offer from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec, but co-founder Alex Arkhangelskiy later said the deal never closed.” Avoid saying the company “received” $200,000, because nothing in the reported account supports that.
Three different things are often called “the deal” on the show, and only the first one happened on camera:

Is Brake Free still operating?
Yes. That post describes Arkhangelskiy discussing how dealers can get involved, so dealer distribution is an active part of the business as of its most recent public update.

Sales and growth figures, and how much weight they deserve
Every sales number tied to Brake Free comes from either the company or a secondary report, and none is audited. The table below lists each figure with its source and date so you can judge how far to rely on it.
| Figure | Value | Who reported it | Date or context | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sales after the episode aired | About $250,000 in the two weeks after airing | Alex Arkhangelskiy, as reported by BGR | Founder interview from 2025, reported in 2026 | Founder-reported, not audited |
| Cumulative sales milestone | More than 7,000 units and $1.1 million in sales | Shark Tank Blog | Update as of June 2021 | Secondary report of company figures |
| Rider reach | 60,000+ riders | Brake Free’s website | Displayed when accessed October 8, 2026 | Company claim about reach, not a safety measurement |
| Listed price | $159.99 per USB-C unit (black or white) | Brake Free’s website | Accessed October 8, 2026 | Current list price, which can change at any time |
The rider-reach figure is the company’s own measure of how many people use the product. It is not evidence that the light reduces crashes. The sources cited here include no independent study of crash outcomes and no audited financial statements, so any safety or profitability conclusion would go beyond the available evidence.

- Open brakefreetech.com and confirm the current price and color options, since the $159.99 figure was checked on October 8, 2026.
- Compare your helmet model with the manufacturer’s fit guidance on the product page before ordering.
- If you are considering a marketplace purchase, search for the current listing directly rather than relying on older reports. BGR’s 2026 article says the product was available on Amazon, but the sources here do not confirm a live listing, variant, or price there.
- If you ride more than one helmet, ask the company whether an additional mount is available for your setup. BGR mentions additional mounts for riders with multiple helmets, but current availability is not confirmed.
The key facts for anyone following the show’s story are settled: the offer was made, the reported deal did not close, and the company continues to sell the product. The growth numbers are useful as founder and company claims, but they should be cited with their dates and sources.
